Muffler Delete and...

Accidently posted in V6 section at first. Doh!

So the muffler delete is going to be the very next thing I do to my car, but I was wonder which of the following options is the best to compliment. Seems that most people have been replacing the stock H-Pipe with the magnaflow X-Pipe. What would happen if you removed the h-pipe and then just extended the pipes to replace the gap? Or is it important to have the two joined somewhere in the middle somehow?

For those that go with x-pipe, which one by magnaflow? I'm thinking the first?

The first one is the one is used. Installed it yesterday and cut off the mufflers and reused factory tips. Sounds GREAT! I was skeptical at first because I'm pretty picky, but I'm very impressed.

Yes....the top one which is the Tru-X. You could also use the #11386 which is the resonated X-Pipe for a little deeper tone in your exhaust.

There was a thread fairly recently that had videos of the muffler delete with the Tru-X and the resonated X-pipe for comparison. Can't find it right now. If I come across it I'll post it.

BTW: before you finally buy your Magnaflow parts....contact JDP motorsports...they've had the best prices so far.

Also....just to let you know I heard that all Magnaflow parts are going to have a price increase tomorrow (3/1/10). If you order today you might get the better pricing.

Cool. Guess I shoulda checked this thread one more time before today.

Any technical thoughts on an h-pipe delete vs a replacement with x-pipe?

Cool, I'll look for that vid too. In the meantime, isn't the resonated one gonna be quieter?

Removing the stock H pipe and installing straight pipe will probably increase low RPM torque below 3600 RPM. Since the factory tune limits torque below 3000 RPM it wouldn't be very noticeable.

Straight pipe with a tune to remove the 'Torque Management' could be used to increase street performance on cars with stock gearing. This gain would be at the expense of high RPM HP.

It's might be slightly quieter but don't think it's going to be quiet. I would say it gives it more of a deeper tone than anything.

Here is a thread that should have video of both the Tru-X and resonated X with a muffler delete.

Here is a couple of my videos with the resonated X. I don't necessarily consider this quiet but others may.

This one also has the rear car removed....it's a little louder.
