For those of you who have installed the KIT-CAM1 with the iDatalink RR already, can anybody confirm if you have to use the aftermarket mic included with your HU? or does the RR retain the factory mic functionality? I haven't been able to get a clear answer on this yet, and none of the install videos I've watched seem to cover that.
Not sure cause I installed the mic, didn't want to take the chance

So it looks like the aftermarket mic is required unless you tap into the factory onstar mic at the OnStar box behind the glove box. I found a thread here on how to wire it, but after spending about an hour trying to figure out how to match up the wire colors correctly for the splice (since manufacturers of 3.5 mm cables can't seem to adhere to a color coding standard), I gave up and just hid the provided Kenwood mic above my rearview mirror.

I've compiled quite a bit on information from digging around on this site and other sources while doing this install, so I think I'm going to put together a how to guide to help others out once I'm done.

This is the setup I'll be installing next week. I have the Pioneer DMH-1500NEX, Maestro and IDatalink RR interface. Should be a great setup.

Looks good. One question though, why is the side bar on the right side? seems awkward

No reason, you can move it I think, have not fooled with that screen yet.
