obviously I would only give up the camaro for a cayenne turbo or something like that but I do not have that kind of money....

The new Grand Cherokee 2011 is the nicest one I have seen with the Overland package. It will run about 43k with the v8.

Should I give up ( or maybe postpone) my Camaro dream for a GC2011???

Or should I say... Wife get a life and let me live mine...... V8 engine sound..burning tires and out on the highway (probably not going to happen....)
If that's your Vette in your signature block, trade that in on a new Camaro.

Marriage may come with compromise, but why is it the guy ALWAYS has to compromise??? My buddy had to trade in his Mustang on a new foreign POS for his wife a month ago. He told her he was going to buy a new Camaro, now she wants that and wants him to drive the foreign POS. WTF???

Take the Cartman approach when dealing with your wife... "Get back in that kitchen and make me some pie!!"

We only need one car at the moment and she will do most of the driving, since she will be dropping me and picking me up at the station.

She was complaining when she saw the thread cause she said I could do what I want. (yeah right !!!!!)).

So in the end we decided for the Jeep cause we need the space.(weekend trips etc)

I am going on Monday to the dealership to test drive both the V6 and V8 and see.

......

The chevy dealership is on the way......so there is still a chance

ps. I sold the vette some years ago.

I am in a similar boat. My wife and I are deciding on getting a new vehicle that will be my daily driver. Right now I drive a Silverado 90 miles round trip during the work week getting 16 mpg. She drives a crossover and my pickup is a 4-door, so we have the kids covered when we start a family. My truck is paid off so it's a no-brainer for us, we're ordering the Camaro early next year.

To the OP, I say you made the right choice. Compromise in a marriage is key, but if a brand new Jeep is your only car I would rather get a cheaper used (but still nice) SUV, then save up for the Camaro next year. At some point you're going to need more than one car...

My wife knows I'm dying to get a Camaro but she can't stop her spending habits. $500 a month could be 2 coach purses. :(

FML...

I agree with Flyboy....I have a Grand Cherokee for a "winter rat" and it is our family/weekend trip vehicle...it is used but loaded up with leather, off road, etc.etc.etc- just about everything the new 2011 has. I think the price tag on that new GC is ridiculous for a Jeep. You should get a nice used 2010 or 2009 model and pay down on that and save for your Camaro. You could get an "almost new" Jeep for 18-22K with a warranty package and then you're on your way for the Camaro. Once you get the Camaro you will know exactly why everyone says buy one. But, it has to be practical for you and your wife. Contrary to what others posted- it is and should be her choice too.

Hmmmm he lives in New Jersey.....winters are kinda harsh around these parts...Jeep or check out the new Wrangler..well the interior is way better than 07-10 in my opinion.

If you have no issues driving the Camaro in the snow and on ice..than it should be a no brainer.

Camaro..........

Not sure what current cars you have, or what kind of budget you're working with, but I think if you can compromise and find the wife a nice used SUV and then also get a base Camaro LS, that would be ideal.

The V6 has plenty of power and can be modded if you want to down the road. Still has the great look plus decent performance and good gas mileage.
