Garage will be the majority of it's time till March.

But there will be days until then it gets to sneak out, like on Black Friday, with dry/clean roads and temps above the 40's.

How much was shipping your Z to Europe, any taxes and other fees?

I got the car for $40k, think I ended up at around $70k.
Shipping was around $3000
12% toll fee
25% in taxes on top of that
european Oem led rear lights almost $3000
Road legal tests and documents $1000

Bought it in may, got stuck in the us harbour due to lack of empty containers, arrived in sweden at the end of july, road legal in september.. got a few days behind the wheel before the snow came.. this will be the longest winter in my life. We’re having a baby in february and need a new house. Hope to afford to keep the car and be able to add some HP during next winter. Most of my car friends rides 911’s and BMW’s, it’s fun to ride something different. I was actually looking for a Porsche, but ran across a gen.3 camaro wich woke up some childhood memories, had it for a few months and realised that they were more cool back in the 90’s.. couldn’t live without a V8 though, somdecided to try a Z/28 afyer I saw Chris Harris review of it. Couldn’t be more satisfied! Love the car!

All the carbon you see on the car is real and from Anderson Composites. The only things not carbon are the rear fenders and plastic bumpers.

Total weight savings is close to 200lbs. Even with the added 200lbs of weight from the cage the cars current weight is 3818lbs. The roof and doors were the most labor intensive. We put 5 coats of PPG clear on all the carbon fiber. Then we had the carbon fiber 100% wrapped in X-Pel Stealth protective film and the black paint 100% wrapped in X-Pel Ultimate protective film.

Awesome! Do you happen to have a breakdown of weight by piece?

Thanks
Doug

wow, hefty fees, plus gas prices in Europe too. But its sure a standout from the AMGs, BMWs and Porsches.

I'm looking at different options maybe Hood,Roof and Trunk. With the Roof being most labor intensive, rough estimation how many hours?

Looking good! With those kooks headers does it give you a deeper tone than stock?

Current status: just finished the post-1000mile Nürburgring trip clean and spanner check.

Now ready for final trackday of 2018 next Saturday! 😀

Believe it or not my car still only has 5200 miles on it!

p.s. - Apologies for the messy garage, neither the bike nor 75% rebuilt kitcar are mine. Storing them for a friend. They have to go in January though as I have another new project incoming!

I can break down some rough estimates on savings. The roof is almost 20lbs, Doors are 30lbs each, fenders are 15lbs each, hood doesnt save much depending on wet or dry, trunk saves 15 with dry. Let me know what info you need help with.

The roof change is the biggest expense. You need to pull the front and rear glass. Then clean out the seam sealer and drill out over 70 spot welds. You can then peal off the stock roof. Fit the dry carbon roof and drill for 30 rivets per side. We use 3M bonding agent on the front back and sides. Then once cured we seam seal and paint. Last the glass goes back in.
