NO Z28 ANNOUNCEMENT IN OSHAWA :-(
I attended the BBOMG/CAMARO NATIONALS in Oshawa during the weekend of June 10-12, and GM was scheduled to make a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on the Saturday.
I was hoping this was going to be the anticipated news, that many of us here, were waiting for. Well, it NEVER HAPPENED! Their big news was the ZL1 coming to Canada & the introduction of an optional auto transmission...BIIIIIIIG DEAL that's old news. Once again GM is laging well behind the competition, and will have to catch up, IF they choose to ever bring back the Z28. I thought it was the most opportune time to release such an announcement, with Transformers 3 debuting next week. They had the Z28 movie car at the show, I guess that was to show what we're NOT getting (see pic below) . They still haven't even released the final HP & price on the ZL1 and it goes into production in Q1 of 2012. My prediction is they're going to over price themselves to the competion, as history has dictated. Oh well, I guess it's time to start playing around with my SS, and do some tasteful & minor mods (cosmetically & mechanically), to make mine more enjoyable...if it's even possible, to enjoy it more than I do now. GM, KEEP AN EYE IN YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR, YOU MIGHT SEE THE BOSS 302 COMING UP REAL QUICK AND PASSING YOU!

Why on earth would you expect GM to announce a new model right in the middle of announcing a new model? The industry doesn't work that way. Even if GM does plan to build a Z28 it wouldn't have been announced now.
And btw as a test, go to a Ford dealer and try to buy a Boss. If you can bring one home, I'll change my tune. The ZL1 will be a better car than the GT500 and probably even the Boss. Oh and don't say things like "GM is behind". If you want to use a single model comparison to make an industry wide statement you'll force me to list everythind Ford is behind GM on. If every car from every company had an exact competitor, it would be boring.

I understand your frustration but I'm not sure GM has enough room for a 5th Gen Z28 with all the hype tied up in the ZL1. It is hard enough to beat the GT500 let alone the Boss, it's better to concentrate on the GT500.
Edit: Just be happy they didn't name the ZL1 the Z28. Last edited by thePill; 06-18-2011 at 07:58 AM. |

I believe the Z28 will be designed and built on the Alpha platform, on which there is a better chance to cut weight with a clean-sheet design.

So you want me to go and try to buy a Boss, well here, time to change your tune, because you can...this is a Canadian website. http://www.ford.ca/app/fo/en/cars/mustang.do# The ZL1 being better than the GT500, remains to be seen; perhaps in HP, but not design.
