Opinion on Portable Lifts

Hello, I was thinking about purchasing one of these and was wondering any opinions on ones you might have. I've been looking at this:https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...0900690a240612. Thanks!

I have the BL-7000SLX and like it a lot. For me, my car is lowered so I also use a set of Race Ramps that are 3" tall for a little extra room to add taller blocks to the quick lift. Takes a few minutes to get set up before lifting the car but not bad. Might check out Costco as they are quite a bit less there. Home Depot also has them and runs sales every so often.

I keep considering a Quick Jack but I always talk myself out of it. My concerns are ingress and egress when working under the car (transmission work etc), trusting my life to Chinese made lifting equipment, and if it takes a bit to set up (as stated above) I may as well crawl around on the ground with my current jack/stand ensemble and save $1500. I also have considered the MaxJax assembly from Bendpak. My hesitation is again shelling out big bucks for lifting equipment with quality on par with Harbor Freight but unfortunately the choices are minimal.

Agree with this, but I do see a full size lift in my future.

I was thinking about getting a lift, and something portable, but I opted out. I couldn’t justify the cost since I don’t do that much work on the car unless it’s an oil change. Even with oil changes, I get the car up pretty quick with a low profile jack. I would put in a 2 post lift if I run out of room for my cars/toys. For now I still have space. :/

I've been considering one of these but for not much more I am leaning towards a 2-post lift.

I have a BL-5000EXT on order. Not buying it for repair/maintenance work as much as convenience when it comes to changing tires/wheels for cleaning, and for ease in waxing/polishing the doors and rocker panels.

The older you get, the less fun it is to bend over for any amount of time.

In other words, I'm lazy.

I have a 2013 ZL1, and when I measured the distance between the factory lift points as recommended by QuickJack, I saw that with the SLX, I'd be about an inch shy of the optimum reach, so I decided to just go for the EXT version to play it safe.

QuickJack tells me my BL-5000EXT frame is currently in production and should ship in two weeks or so.

I bought a 5000 ext after I bought my 1LE a couple years back. Been more than impressed with it and feel completely safe while under the car. Definitely no china junk from what I have seen of mine.

I've been looking at this one for the last year or so.
Think I'm going to pull the trigger this summer as the wife's Iroc will be coming back from the paint shop and will be doing engine, transmission, and rearend.

If I had to do it again, I would go with the MaxJax since my ceiling won’t allow me to use a full sized lift.

Thanks for the opinions!!! Now a couple thousand roses to the wife should do the trick. Wait, maybe 2 thousand because she did pull the large ribbon trick on me at the dealer when "we" bought it. I had no idea either. What a great day that was . Great wife too(and she's not even glaring behind me as I type this).

I built a set of ramps 4' long and 8" high that meet up with platforms. the ramps are removed leaving clear space. jack up the rear and put on stands or platforms under the tires and you are set for working under the car. made everything with 1 sheet of 3/4 plywood and good engineering.

i bought a set for 1k... off fb market place.. never unboxed.. i have a new backyard shop and near future plans on a full sized lift .. but in the meantime i felt safer with the quickjacks than four jackstands... easy to use .. did a driveshaft change . trans cooler install .. and now doing a paint correction .. these are prime units for intense paint care.. or doing brakes. cons are u can only slide in from the back or front of the car..also take up space while not in use. i just slide em under one of my other projects.
