I think GM really needs to be careful here and listen to a lot of these posts. People are expecting a Z28 and if it is not and named something that has NO heritage, it will hurt sales pure and simple.

IMO the name doesn't really matter.
All that matter IMO is the LSA under the hood |

but . . . what If this isn't GM's plan for the pinnacle of Camaro performance in the 5th Gen? Or what if it is, but they have an even better plan for the 6th gen in the pipeline already? They always said they will not put the Z/28 moniker on a car that does not deserve the title and I think they've done exactly that. I personally don't think they could have reduced the weight enough to make it handle to their own internal standards of what the Z/28 should be. I think the Z/28 will be introduced with the 6th gen which will have less weight, more power and better handling which is what they intended to do in future platforms anyway. Or, if that isn't what they'll do, well . . . we can just hope that it's a Boss competitor, in which case it will be cheaper and appeal to a larger crowd. I was kind of shocked that I technically could buy the Boss as I feel like I'm an average salary guy, and hoped that there would be a Camaro which competes . . . but I've already bought my SS and I'm happy. |

The only car that should have the Z28 badge is one that has a LS7 in it. Don't try to take the engine from the CTSV and put it in a Camaro and call it a Z28. If that is the plan then call it the HP Edition. The Z28 name deserves it own engine and trany package above and beyond any other car package already in a GM car.

I'd like for them to wait and make a z/28 on the alpha platform, and make it something like the new boss mustangs.
Whatever they're producing on the 1st is going to be badass though |

You don't think the magnetic suspension will make it a balanced monster?

I like COPO or SSX, too, but still prefer Z28, without hesitation. I don't really see GM coming out with two MORE models if the 6th Gen is only a handfull of years away. I foresee this car being the top performing CAMARO and I think it deserves a name that's just as significant.
