Exclamation Feb 12, 2011 ABQ SMS Cars, Coffee, Chile, and Speed (Track Day)!

Rescheduled from Feb 5th.

Albuquerque SMS Cars, Coffee, Chile, and Speed (Track Day) on the 12th of February 2011 (again, weather permitting).

The entry fee is $50 per track day, unless you become a Driver's Club member. More information on this will be posted at http://www.sandiamotorsports.com/ or http://www.sandia-speedway.com/

The time will be between 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (alot of the time, it's even longer).

As usual, we'll meet up at Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town at 8:30 AM and caravan out to the track.

By the way, if the parking lot is full at Hotel Albuquerque, we'll meet just across the street (on Bellamah Ave).

Details on the Track Day are at http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106280

I hope to see you all there!

NOTICE: There is a $5 fee for anyone coming out to observe and hang out! Coffee and drinks are still free. It is $50 for drivers.

Helmets are required!

-------------------------------
This is from Jim Guthrie:

Bell makes an open face helmet with a short visor, looks good and is not too much money. Go to www.saferacer.com, http://simpsonraceproducts.com/, http://www.impacthelmets.com/, or http://www.bellracing.com/public/ind...ct/detail/232/
to see helmet choices.

The fireproof lined helmets will cost more and really aren't needed. If someone plans to race, it must be a full face, Snell 2010. I think it is the latest, nomex lined helmet. Some sanctioning bodies allow one step older Snell rated helmets, check with the sanctioning body.

Thanks for the update Curt. The weather is supposed to be better next weekend. I wouldn't have been able to make it this morning anyway. There was still too much snow on our street, and now it looks like it may snow more. What's out there is starting to melt some. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Bump!

Bumping this up as a reminder. It's supposed to be a nice day Saturday.

Also, if you decide to go, we are meeting at 8:30 AM as this make up event starts at 9:00 AM. Come on out for a cruise and just to hang out. There's no pressure to drive your car on the track.

See you there!

Count me in! After three weeks of freezing cold, and being buried in snow, I'm ready for a nice 55 degree day out at the track! Let's get a bunch of camaros out for some great fun.

Bummer! The weather was great. We all had a good time! It was nice getting Tim and Lorenzo out there, and letting them see what these cars can do on the track. At the end of the session we got to see a bunch of Legends race cars, as well as a couple modified's and bandolero's. But before that, traffic was very light. A good day to drive!

I didn't get any pics, but I know Tim took a bunch. Hopefully he'll post them up!
