My latest DYNO the good and the bad..

As always I like to share my work with my fellow camaro gurus especially when it come to dyno numbers so here is another one for you guys.

So yesterday I went for another dyno run to establish my current number to ready for some porting work I am currently having worked on. Since my last "gas" dyno run the only addition I made was vmax ported TB and AEM brute force cold air inatke modded for ram air through a 6" velocity stack inlet.

So to make the story short take a look at the last dyno vs yesterday's dyno.

(yesterday's dyno is red/black and the older dyno is blue/green)

Let me start with the good news. take a look at the AFR. The AFR are in the 10's!! rich rich rich, but if you look at the graph closely I still made torque and hp(avg of 13)all through out the board than pass 5k rpm I start losing power.

Here is a better example from one of the run in data format.

RPM x1000 hp ft-lbs Air/Fuel

3.10 138.49 234.64 11.21
3.20 144.31 236.85 11.17
3.30 150.60 239.68 11.14
3.40 154.85 239.20 11.13
3.50 161.59 242.48 11.14
3.60 168.36 245.62 11.11
3.70 173.14 245.77 11.05
3.80 176.31 243.69 11.04
3.90 179.35 241.53 11.03
4.00 181.97 238.93 11.06
4.10 187.47 240.15 11.13
4.20 191.37 239.31 11.14
4.30 195.11 238.32 11.17
4.40 198.15 236.54 11.21
4.50 200.59 234.12 11.21
4.60 203.54 232.40 11.12
4.70 209.11 233.67 11.01
4.80 215.13 235.40 10.89
4.90 221.49 237.40 10.83
5.00 225.11 236.46 10.90
5.10 230.99 237.88 10.97
5.20 233.86 236.20 10.95
5.30 235.28 233.16 10.95
5.40 238.79 232.25 10.99
5.50 239.66 228.86 10.95
5.60 243.52 228.39 10.95
5.70 245.77 226.46 10.86
5.80 247.77 224.37 10.76
5.90 250.02 222.57 10.75
6.00 252.21 220.77 10.77
6.10 255.85 220.30 10.82
6.20 257.72 218.32 10.93
6.30 259.39 216.25 10.92
6.40 258.98 212.53 10.92
6.50 261.49 211.29 10.93
6.60 261.95 208.46 10.86

You might ask why is this the good news lol. The answer is simple. Vince's tune usually put our AFR between 12.5-12.7 so If I still made power with my AFR in the 10's this mean I have more power to claim by correcting the AFR to it' proper range.

Now the bad news is that I have to go back to the dyno and spend more money just so I can make sure that my AFR is in the correct range and I can make sure that I have the correct power figure to compare with once the porting is all said and done.

Before I start getting questions or comments like "why is your dyno number so low with those mods"?? Let me first say that dyno is a measuring tool. The measurement is only good as to measure the difference from one mod to the next. There's no such thing as same exact figure for each and every dyno but maybe close, so if we are making 312 at the crank this does not mean we will see 265 to the wheels on every dyno each and every single time. The dyno I am using is the bigger 248x dynojet which is known to dyno stock v6 camaros in the 220-240 range to the wheels.

Just a little viewing pleasure for you guys, or should I say listening pleasure

CamaroFreako...what is your problem? In pretty much each and every thread discussing V6 dyno results you come in and drop some dumb comment. Just leave it alone. How come you didn't comment in bmorecam's prior E85 dyno thread where he made roughly 290rwhp on this exact same low reading dyno?? Thats right, you have nothing good to say about an N/A V6 even if it is making 360 crank HP. Pffff....

Anyways...bmorecam...thanks for sharing! So this compares to your last "gas" run with all the same mods except for your intake correct? Sucks that you have to spend money, but your doing it the way it should be done by making sure you get an accurate dyno reading before you throw on the ported intake which could really skew the results if you compared this run to one with a ported intake and a corrected tune.

This is also another testimate to the potential power in the E85 tune. You had an extra 25 or so rwhp with that tune (not sure about the TQ numbers) in what I'm guessing was hotter weather...very impressive indeed.

Dude - that is freakin awesome! So that was gas not E85? Why the switch up...are you trying to get a rough est for power from the 85 to the gas?

Prenger, I don't pay those special clowns any mind. I don't even know what "pffff" mean and thought it was just a typo lol I seen the dude being negative in couple other threads but never thought he would come on my thread and show his emotion

Anyhow, I'm just glad that everything is going the right way and not the opposite. With my AFR shifting to 10's and still gaining avg of 13 hp/tq throughout the curve is ok. At least I know I have more power to claim from 10's all the way to 12's

This is straight on gas and no ethanol involved. I went to dyno to establish my current power figure so I can know exactly how much porting is going to net me once that is finished.

Ethanol is a different animal but I am keeping it all gas for the rest of the year.

On thing I noticed is it doesn't look like they have SAE correction turned on... makes it tougher to compare pulls from different times/days...

The graph I posted is one from yesterday vs the last time I dynoed on gas. If you look at the graph and compare with the data I posted below the graph you can see exactly what is happening. In the beginning through about the middle rpm when is in the low 11's (which is still very rich) you can still see it gaining around 13 on avg across until we start seeing the AFR dip in the 10's, then you can see the power and tq drop to my older power figure.

I think once vince get the AFR back on track I think I can see as much as 20-25 across the board and def even more out in open road at high speed. What I am liking about this the most is that my tq level is defenitely getting better.

After this winter and when I go back to ethanol I am hoping by that time cams will be an option. Defenitely get with me

The last time I checked their ASE calculation was off which is calculated through their weather station which is supposedly not working and stuck at the same exact report april or july. I have to check back with them the next time I go and see what is the deal with that. I always just do the calculation manually but in this case I guess it really won't do any good since the calculation will only net me peak numbers. I have to see the off peak numbers/graph especially when I am running as rich as 10's.

Thank you. If you look at my album I went from red to green to red all since april Lucky for me I do all the striping myself so I can kinda change as I wish.

As far as the dyno, this is more of information than anything. Just getting ready to show you guys how much porting will net in terms of gain. Im just happy that I caught a power robbing problem. If one person can take this information and learn something new about how our car operate and how we can lose or gain then that is good enough for me.
