Gas Prices, Your Camaro, Your Limit?

Let's face it, a war has been declared on fossil fuel in the USA. A fill up in NorCal for premium will cost me $100.51...at the moment. (based on 19 Gal) It's a given that sometime in 2022 we will see $6 / gal. One sleepy, Mendocino county station has already charged $7.00. That's $114.00 and $133.00 respectively. I know we're the extreme but it'll be proportionate everywhere else.

I'm curious, especially for daily commuters, is there a limit you will not go? Park the Camaro and buy a 'hybrid' to commute? Or just say screw it and SELL?

(I'm retired and mine sits a lot. NO plans to sell)

Mines not for sale, but it hasn’t even been started in over a month. I only put about 300 miles on it this summer. Next year will probably be the same.

If you're not feeling well when looking at your gas station prices, take a look at petrol prices in Norway.
For 19 gallons $148.00

I’m good for about 6 to 7k a year. Laid up for winter. I bought this car to enjoy driving it. I won’t like paying higher gas prices but, not selling and I’m a firm believer that “you only live once”. I can always jump on the Harley to offset gas prices now and then. I’ll use a common hd rider phrase. “Screw it, let’s ride! “

While I feel for my Norwegian, Camaro brethren, it doesn't ease my pain. We're in a meteoric rise in inflation and I wouldn't rule out $148.00 before it's over. Especially in my state!

im glad i opted for the 6 cylinder.gas(87) is 3.18 per gallon at sams currently.drove about 250 miles yesterday and have a 240 mile trip planned for thanksgiving so 5 bucks a gallon would be enough to make me think twice about driving the wifes honda civic coupe on longer trips.

Mine is not for sale either, and never will be. I love my Camaro!! I don't drive her as much as I used to as I have a secondary vehicle now for daily driving and it gets around 35-40mpg, and it is NOT electric!! Hyundai Kona SEL, love it. They way I see it, just like modding, you gotta pay to play, and gas isa big part of that game, I'll just gas her up and go when it's time.

It also flies up here. But now it's stagnant. I hope it goes down soon.

I wanted to tell you that it can always be worse

I guess it’s worth noting, I’ve got a use it like it’s yours company truck so I don’t regularly pay for gas for anything other than my wife’s Denali. I don’t personally believe the high gas prices will last forever. I work in oil and gas and we are having a good year but anyone who knows oil and gas knows it’s a constant compromise between boom and bust. Oil isn’t going anywhere. All these EVs are made of a ton of plastic, last I checked plastic is made from dead dinosaurs, how about tar for the roads we drive on, the oil that lubes the gearboxes on the not so “green” wind turbines? There’s a pretty good documentary called “SpOILed” that lays out just how reliant we are as a society on oil and fossil fuels in general.

In a nut shell, This too shall pass. If I had to DD my Camaro I would do it in a heartbeat even at 3.79 premium.

Here in my part of Canada premium gas at the moment is 1.50 per liter x 3.78 for an american gallon = 5.67 per gallon.

Well my camaro ill never sell. It'll have to be totaled for me to get rid of it and when that happens ill buy a c6 ZR1. Im with the no limit club. Sure it will be driven less than it already is. Takes about 14 months to put 5k on it.

100 bucks for a tank of gas tho........ tough pill to swallow

I'll consider myself fortunate to live near Houston . My Chevron station where I fill up just went up to $3.79/gal. for 93 octane . For now , it's as other's said , pay it and drive . I am retiring in Jan. and won't have as much need for fuel as I do now (my car is a daily driver) , but I'm sure I'll be complaining once I retire and my income is reduced .
