I still had a few minor things to tidy up on with all the Z28 stuff.
I didn't like the look of the chrome headlight bezels. I had some 3M carbon wrap leftover from doing the strut brace and wrapped both bezels with that. Looks much better now. Before the wrap After the wrap & looks much better now! Also ordered and put on ZL1 Addon's splitter guards on the front splitter (where else would you put those lol ;-0 )

Next up was lowering springs. I ordered a set of BMR 1" lowering springs from JDP Motorsports and put them on the day before LS Fest. I didn't drive it to LS Fest but wished I would have...

Looking Good man! Those 3.91 are a big gear in the L99 for sure!
Did you go with 20x10 and 20x11 staggered rims? I ask, because these made the biggest difference in my handling, going wider rims/tires and stickier tires. I think the 1LE suspension is less to do with it, and more so the tires... but there is no denying, the 1LE suspension is better. Nice build though man... keep it up. The Z28 splitter is HUGE!! haha.

Fast forward to February I started talking with Josh at GPI on cam kits and converters. Talked about several options and was on hold until I decided what to do.
A few weeks goes by and Ryan posts on the forum about new cam lobe designs which put the hook in front of my mouth. Shortly after that the thread about new cam lobe designs turns into a group buy/special offer. Called and spoke with Ryan and the hook was set. Ordered GPI cam kit and Circle D converter. 10 days later the cam kit is in my hands and converter is in transit. On 3/25/17 the NWA Camaro Club was having an cruise up to Mo-Kan drag strip for the day. I know this sounds odd, but thankfully it rained very hard the night before and the event was cancelled. I was looking forward to getting some more time slips before the cam/converter install. Since the event was cancelled, we got started early on taking the engine apart. This is where I am glad the event was cancelled. After teardown and while cleaning the lifter bores I found some loose needle bearings and one of the trunnion retainers from a rocker. Went and looked at the rockers that were removed and found that two intake rockers had broken trunions on one side. So, where are the other needle bearings? Hopefully in the oil pan... This was completely unexpected. Engine wasn't making any unusual noises at all. I hadn't planned on doing any rocker upgrades at all prior to this. What to do... Pic after pulling the hood and putting a protective wrap on the front end. Pulled everything down to the block. Removed the front fascia to for easier access to the engine bay & also to install the trans cooler. Here are some of the "extras" that we found during teardown. Here are the few needle bearings that we did find before pulling the pan.

So with what was found with the needles bearings a decision was quickly made that we needed to drop the pan. Also knowing that the transmission was coming out for the converter instal it made sense to go ahead and pull the block out completely.
So did some more research on trunnion upgrades and gave C.H.E. a call and ordered a set of their bushings. Took the heads to GPI to get the new springs put on & the valves looked at. Aaron checked everything out and thankfully nothing was out of whack. Also swapped out my intake for one with a rod-mod while I was there along with a new pick-up tube, 0-ring and oil pan gasket. While the block was out we pulled the pan and found 1 needle bearing. Removed the oil pick-up and found the remaining needle bearings sucked up against the pick-up screen. Put in a new pick-up tube, o-ring and pan gasket before putting the block back in. We also put the new cam in and front cover back on while the block was out. Put the new converter in. Got the block back in, trans bolted up, new B&M deep pan and ADM trans cooler all installed. Had the rockers taking a bath while doing this.

During the week when my hours of working on the car were limited I decided to relocate the windshield washer motor. Ever since I put in the ADM CAI & RotoFab relo bottle it has worked intermittently. Pretty sure this was due to the washer fluid bottle being relocated behind the left wheel well.
I decided to put the windshield washer motor back in a cubby hole in the rear of the front left wheel well just under the RotoFab bottle. This is protected by the wheel well. Started by cutting the windshield washer motor harness, soldered in 18ga wire extension and covered with heat shrink tubing. Routed the wiring inside the wheel well (to be covered up by the wheel well once put back in). Found away to mount the motor without drilling any holes. Re-routed & shortened the hoses to fit.

Yes I did go with that stagger. I have thought about the 1LE suspension but haven't decided what to do there yet. And yes, the spoiler is much bigger and wasn't expecting to see it in the rear view mirror! Lol..

So the car is back together and running on the start up tune from Ryan. Will be driving to GPI on Wednesday of this week (4/19/17) to be tuned. Its a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive one way but well worth it.
Will post up results afterwards. Here is a quick video of it running after the startup tune was loaded on Monday = https://youtu.be/PVzzVYEdOwM
