Abs, traction, speedometer, check engine, reduce power are all problems you will face if the diameters are not within a certain spec. Widest you can probably run with 20x9 is 285 before the tires start bulging out and becoming a risk. A tune may be necessary to get the speedometer back within range of actual mph. There's more to it than how wide you want to go and how much sidewall you want. I would buy the wheels that support the width and diameter you want and then get the tires, it will prevent future headaches.

Update: Purchased tires but not yet installed. I have a set of TPMS sensors coming in the mail today or Wednesday. Then it's a matter of having the time to getting them done.

I went with:
Front: BF Goodrich Comp-2 A/S: 255/45/20
Rear: Nitto NT555 G2 295/40/20

They come out to a .3" difference in overall time diameter (29"/29.3") respectively. Using the tire calculator provided by SSEssence, it will only slightly vary the speedo (1 mph @ 60mph or so).

Thank you for all the insight and info. Once one the car, I will report back. Cheers!

*EDIT: Corrected the tire profile for the front tires.

Something's not right with your calculations, I'm coming up with 28.03" front diameter and 29.29" rear, that's a 1.26" difference in diameter. You're going to have StabiliTrak issues. I checked two different calculators and the one you mention and came up with the same numbers on all of them. A 295/35 rear would work with the 255/40 fronts. There would only be a tenth of an inch difference in diameter with that set up.

ProZ11, thank you for brining my typo to attention. The correct tire size for the front should be: 255/45/20.

I have edited my previous post to correct. Thank you, sir on the catch!

Okay, that makes more sense. You'll be fine with those sizes..

Tire width is the issue, but not because of TPMS.

A 295/40 tire should be mounted on rims between 10" and 11.5" wide. This is for sidewall flexing reasons (heat generation, cornering stability for the tire tread). Half an inch narrower at 9.5" sacrifices some of your margin against anything unpleasant happening, a whole inch narrower (down to 9") would cost you more than twice that much.

IMHO, it's at least as nutty to put 295/40's on 9" wide as it would be to stretch 255/45's out over 10.5" wide rims.

Can anyone help me please. I just bought 20x10 rims for my 2010 Camaro. front is 23mm offset and back is 35mm offset. I am putting 305/35/20 on the back. Can I put 285 or 295 on the front with this offset?

A whole inch narrower than the narrow end of the mfr-listed width range up front (needs at least 9") and an inch and a half too narrow in the rear (10.5" min) = just say no.
