I've actually got another where I'm pretty sure all 4 are well off. It's just luck whether the photographer catches it perfectly.

You know about it when you land, you have to let the car settle just a fraction of a second then brake HARD and turn right before the gravel trap!

I know off topic, but since OP was at the Ring if you have not seen this video before its worth watching. The accerlation and pace from corner to corner is insane! All this with back straight at 228 mph (368 KPH) on the rev limiter for pretty much the entire straight. Many corners taken at 150 mph or more and several at over 200 mph. Wow!

919 Porsche record lap in 2018 at the Ring

The engineer in me can't help but analyse! Better give in to it and do it while it's fresh in the mind. Comparison with Adam Dean's Z/28 lap in 2014, each minute is reset back to a synchronised start.

Things in my favour: more power, less weight, more tyre, less bumpy track and a gripper warmer day.

Things in Adam's favour: more talent, more experience, more bravery, most importantly a sighting lap and knowledge that he is the only thing on track so able to drive at 110%.

Minute 1: I lose 7 seconds.
Minute 2: I lose 12 seconds, a heap due to catching the car at Flugplatz at the wrong point and making a mess of the overtake!
Minute 3: I only lose 5.5 secs, not too bad.
Minute 4: I lose 8 secs.
Minute 5: I only lose 4.5secs, mainly due to power advantage. The Porsche doesn't cost me any time.
Minute 6: I lose 7 secs. The hatchback doesn't cost me any time.
Minute 7: I lose 6.5 seconds.
Minute 8: despite Adam's best efforts in the sudden rain I gain 1.5 secs! Total: I lose 49secs over not even a full BtG lap!

Very cool analysis, Pat. You did great! Far, far better than I could. Btw, what is your RWP and RWT?

Thanks! It's 578 rwhp, 511rwft-lb so quite an advantage over the standard car. You can visibly see it picks up quicker on some of the straights out of 3rd gear corners!

Still a few more pictures to purchase, they're not cheap at about €10-12 per image, but I'm happy to support the photographers who stand out there in all weathers, particularly this year when their incomes will have been disrupted by the Covid19 track closure.

This one is interesting cos it shows how much the ride height decreases when you get some proper load into the tyres on the banking! G-Force!

This year I am running a tyre I don't think you can get in the USA.

It's a Dunlop called 'Sport Maxx Race' - it was another of the Porsche OE tyre options on the 911 GT3. It's about an 80treadwear so pretty soft!

Seems to work really well on the Z, I'm running 325/30/R19 all round.
