Thanks. So they recommend 2 options...sounds like you are going with non-synthetic? Any idea what they ship in the diff?

Btw, I asked ADM because I know they've done quite a few...they recommended to stick with the fluid that comes shipped. So that's my plan.

This kit is the answer. It's disgusting what the vendors are asking for the 9" conversions. (There, I said it). I'm sure they had to price it to remain profitable, but there were no alternatives out there at the time so people who need stronger had to pony up.

This puppy is half the price of an aftermarket 9", axles and driveshaft, and I bet it is stronger too. You can bet that 50x more R&D and testing went into these than any aftermarket company could afford to do, if they had the equipment and computer sim power and software.

Glad I waited. Sometimes it's better to just see how things pan out than to try to keep up with the Jone's. I almost got "fully" caught up in that game a few years ago, and made a huge mistake in my sequence of mods that cost me dearly.

Unless I'm mistaken, there are a very limited selection of gear ratio's for this housing. That would be the only real drawback I could see.

I got mine in April for $3750. I think that's the dealer discount. It's good to have friends .

They are sized differently to help prevent wheel hop. The idea is that if the axles are different sizes, they will twist at different rates upon hard acceleration. Twisting at different rates, theoretically should release at different times thus preventing wheel hop.

how does the ZL1 rear end stack up to the other vendors 9" rear ends?
I would think the aftermarket 9" is more stout (with a heavier price tag)
