Found a tool on my motor, LXF, might be from the factory?
2013 LS
So i bought the car with 7,000 miles on it, about 40 now, only one previous owner. Today i installed the vitesse throttle response controller then i was changing out my coil packs and saw this thing being cradled by the wire harness plugged into the coil pack at the middle of the passenger side. It was in a place that could easily be overlooked because of all the other wires running over it. I only saw it because it moved when i unplugged the coil pack. Anyone have any idea what it is or might be? Weighs a good 5 pounds and has a lock ring towards the tip. No marks or imprints. |

It looks like a sleeve of somekind..is it hollow? Tools are not usually left behind because they are used on every car....i wonder if the car was sent to repair in the plant for something and that tool was left. Its weird because online workers dont usually work with anything that has some weight. Its an ergonomics issue.

Yes it is hollow. The red indents are where the tip is pressed in. This would be to heavy to use on a regular basis by hand but it has a lot of wear.

It looks like a port-a-power style hydraulic jack extension.

Has the car been in an accident? maybe the PO had something "straightened" ......Trust me, I have seen it all. The best one was where they used a hydraulic jack to push in a crease on a frame tube.....then then they did a really great job of filling the waves and respraying it.....too bad for them, I bring a magnet on inspections.

Don't think it's part of a porter power or anything similar because of it being hollow.

it does look just like that part in the picture, just used and abused. i bought the car from the dealer, it was a lease return, and i was never told of any accidents. i don't see markings on parts like they were replaced either. totally possible the previous owner had an accident and repaired it before taking the car back. Thanks for the info guys!
