With Cam, Headers and Clutch do I need to upgrade axels?

Next Monday my 2015 SS goes in for a Night Fury Cam, SW Headers, new clutch and dyno tune. Already have a CAI intake. Hoping to be around the 480 rwhp mark. Will the stock axels hold with drag radials or do I need to upgrade before going to the track? Thanks in advance for your advise.

Shouldn't be a problem. Even the clutch is more than necessary, unless you plane to hit the drag strip every weekend. Guys are running 700-800+ on the stock clutch.

you should try a new toe and trailing arm combo though to limit wheel hop as it is what really causes a lot of havoc out back......

+1^ I think your axles will be ok if you do a couple things to counter wheel hop.

I've ran multiple times at the track on stock axles. But I've been scared to really launch hard since the stock axles are so fragile. So I have shitty 60' times.
I just recently bought 1000hp DSS axles and they're on their way.
Gonna install those and now I can launch hard and not be so worried that I'll have to get towed home from the track..

So in summary, if you have the extra $1200, do it. It's good peace of mind and good for the long run.

To be honest I'm more worried about breaking my diff than axles

Save the money on axles and look for a zl1 diff to swap in, they're bulletproof.

Are you a manual or auto? Plenty of people have broken stock axles on stock power at the drag strip running manual cars. Autos seem to be no problem.

This.
If you're going to spend $1200 on axles, just keep saving and spend $2500 on a ZL1 driveline. No more worries.
There's a ZL1 rear cradle for sale in the ZL1 classified section FYI.

On a dead hook youll break an axle way before it gets to differential. Just do axles and a TruTrac and be done with it. More than enough for a cam only car.

Spend 2k+ and still have a weak diff. No thanks
Spend the money on a zl1 diff and really be done with it

Hes talking about a clutch, so hes a manual. Autos don't have the issue because the whole drivetrain is preloaded, its not snapping back there like it does when you dump the clutch in a manual.

Single dumbest thing, I have done today! Completely missed that, whats even worse, is I read through the whole thread twice looking for that answer.....

Slip the clutch, dont dump it and youll be fine. I have about 100 passes on my car with similar power, stock clutch + stock axles.

Aruns car has stock clutch and axles and has seen a bit of track time too with no issues, though it stinks like clutch after a couple passes, but thats due to slipping the clutch.

And if your worried about things upgrade some things like the Diff with a LPW cover that is twice as thick to keep the diff stiff as its aluminum. Sticky tires can be a enemy and wheel hop and hard launches. But being smart and wanting good launches the rpms do not have to be as high even as the launch control in the car and be more in the 3500 range and that's the best info I have learned over time. Beef the rear and suspension and you should not trash it unless your trying to abuse it.
