ZL1 are very limited production car, why??? because MOST plp cant afford a ZL1, because its too expensive.

Your reasoning is just absurd. What do you think of plp who have been raised by poor parents, beaten by them and teached to steal by them? Do you think they can afford a ZL1?! LOL

A lot of plp will maybe keep the extra 10-15K to do something better than investing a damn car, which is the worst investement on earth.
Tell that to my grandfather who has a 66 Shelby Cobra, original owner.

Im sorry you feel offended but if you think buying a car like this is stupid why are you on a car forum and why do you own a camaro SS with nitrous?
I agree..you just sounded like ****y rich guy, at first.Good to see its not the case. Honestly, I'm not the jealous type, I'm really happy for plp that makes tons of money, they usually worked hard for it.

I dumped a lot of money in my car, because it makes me happy. But thats the worst investment I did in my life. The downside is that I spent more money on my SS than the actual price of a new ZL1...

..the poor parents was to point out that you cant control everything in life. Just saying sometimes its harder for some plp to save some money, whatever the reason is.

yep its not that much money compare to any investement. My friend bought a house 5 years ago and made 100K on it, pure profit. Dont try this argument.

If he still has it, then he is still in the hole with it. He has not made any money with it at this time. Having something you think is worth a lot of money is not the same is getting what you think it is worth.

Chances are no money will be made keeping a car, the insurance and registration plus upkeep will very well cut into any profit. Just look at all the cars at auction that go for way less money then was put into them.

Cars that where kept for 50 years still have more money keeping them in good shape then they sell for.

"The ZL1 is not a limited production car. The guy you are jumping on has good points."

Yes it is, or Chevy would build more of them. It's limited by fuel mileage.

That price is for a used ZL1. New car prices (with 2008 being the only recent exception) will in most cases be significantly higher than used prices for the same car.

In general there are pros and cons (obviously) with buying a car in one method vs. another. The end result is that you should get the car that you want at a price that's reasonable.

I don't know if you realize this but Chevy is going to produce the ZL1 to meet demand. After 5 months of production, they have produced over 3600 cars, at this rate, they will have produced over 7k for the year, far from limited and a lot more than what corvettes will produce.

The bottom line is the ZL1 is affordable when you consider and appreciate fully what it is. Not everyone can afford one, but that doesn't mean its not affordable. Heck I would love to have a ZR1, but I am not there yet. But you won't hear me saying its "not affordable".

Affordable to some extent is a matter of ones priorities.

But there are many, if not most Camaro fans that cannot really afford a $60,000 delivered car. To put this into perspective, $60,000 can almost buy you a house in some areas of the country.

It's just a different shaped Escalade or LTZ Dmax for the price. Very affordable.
And my parents were poor and I am relatively rich, I learned by watching what not to do. The "brought up by" theory doesn't hold water.

You guys are way off base with the parental influence theory.........there is relevance to it but who cares.....people make their decisions based on who they currently are and hopefully learn to do better over time.

The OP brings up a great point about value.

The ebay add is about a car that sold for what $56K+tax=60K, so the guy is taking a $9K dive or so + payments.....

The best way to optimize your cash (and you should unless you are so wealthy you don't have to work) on a car purchase is to buy a low mileage used car. On upper end cars its about 20-24 months old and under 10K miles......that usually translates into a 20%-25% discount off the retail price. On some cars its even worse. Depreciation isn't linear but is averages about 12% per year on cars over $50K.

The ZL1 in the ebay ad is even worse. If it was a ?March 12 car that puts it at 17% depreciation annualized...which is scary. But that is what they are going for.

Even at 15% depreciation, the ZL1, within 24 months will be selling for around $41K, which is when the smart money will buy an 8-10K mileage car.....

Its just the difference between buying new and buying value. People make this choice every day. BTW...the wealthiest people I know......are very cheap and always buy value.

I agree with the above 100%. My intention was never to say the ZL1 was not affordable but it’s becoming more affordable. People just starting getting out of control and the funny part its people that actually bought the 2012 ZL1 new at MSRP or over.
My statement was that I will be able to purchase this car for about 40-42 k in about 1 year from now. Many people have disagreed. When I make the purchase, I will proof my point and make sure to post on this specific thread.
