If they end up buying the car, please post the VIN here so anyone savvy enough to be here while looking at ZL1’s will know the real story behind the car and can make an informed decision whether or not to buy it.

I have to agree. Seems the dealership is atpeast trying and gave you a decent offer. 60k may seem like a fair market value of the car (or not depending on year/miles). So they can fix it right with all new oem stuff or get you into a new 1.

As far as the z06. Imo thats asking for trouble. Besides the fact, where do you expect them to place you? Ahead of everyone? Top 50? Top 100? Who's to say the dealer will even get allocated that many. Even if you were top 25, what if thats 2-3 year wait? You think the dealer will remember (or care) of this incident let alone make you a good deal on a new z06?

Personally, depending on the damage, id be trying to get into a new car. market value for a zl1 is well past 60k unless it has some crazy miles, so id be asking for more $.

Thinking the same here, it sucks that you even have to through this but dealer seems to be trying to make it right by either fixing the car or buying it back.
The zo6 really has nothing to do with the situation.

I agree with all who are saying the dealer is being fair.

Things happen. They are willing to buy it back or fix it. What more do you want?

Conversely, bring the lawyer in and your net $$$ on the deal is going to drop.

Further, how would you like to be the guy that ordered a Z06 months ago to only get bumped because of someone working an angle was able to sneak to the head of the line?

Bad Ju-Ju right there....

Damn that sucks to hear but I think the 60k offer is a good offer. If the accident is reported on the Carfax then your car wouldn’t be worth 60k in my book. Take the deal and get into a new 23 for now cuz you probably won’t see a Z06 for a few years.

Each time I took my ZL1 in, I would take a pic of the mileage, enable PDR valet mode and tell the service writer and tech if present that I did not want the car off the dealership lot. Sorry to see this happen, the good is you caught em, good luck in the outcome! A car is never the same in my heart after suffering any damage and would probably have to get rid of it.

Take the 60 thousand and find another dealership.
How many times has this happened before and they got away with it?
Who knows?

Bet that tech no longer has a job....(rightfully so!) What an idiot... People who can't fess up to their mistakes...

That being said... I agree with the others. Either take the cash or take the new ZL1, but trying to toss a Z06 into the mix isn't the right thing to do either. I would assume truly the only thing the dealership is liable for is fixing your car if their or your insurance company isn't totaling it, and maybe?? diminished value. Not ever state is a diminished value state.

Besides... why would you even want to work with a dealer on a Z06 that just tried to screw you on damage done to your car?

You are entitled to recover the full cost of the repairs and the diminution of value based on the vehicle having been involved in an accident. I would accept nothing less.

They aren't wanting to even comit to talk about the Z06 order. They want to treat it as a separate conversation. I really dont want to go nuclear by posting all the videos but it wouldn't look good given what the mechanic was doing in a public park trying to conceal damage.

I do have the videos backed up and the SD card stored away. They are aware of the videos as I have showed them the extent of the effort their employee did to cover up the damage.

I don't feel comfortable agreeing to the $60k buyback until i figure out about a new order.

Thanks,

Richard

if they were willing to order what you want and give that amount as buy back/trade in and do it all at the same desk/salesman i would do it.there has to be a salesman there that remembers how to sell.maybe talk to the owner/manager about it .keep in mind i would think that would put you on the bottom of the list and it might be a while before you sit in your new ZO6

If you take a look, some 2018’s with similar mileage are retailer priced over $60k right now. So maybe show the dealer comps to push for a higher payout. Drop the Z06 talk with them just because those things are going to be very limited, priced well over MSRP and go to the connected and wealthy first meaning long waits.

The only reason I am focusing on the Z06 is that I already requested myself to be on the order list last summer. I am really just looking to validate the list exists and see if I can move up. It isn't a new request from my view.

Thanks,

Richard

Excluding the Z06 from the equation… I’d ask for market value of my damaged car + whatever sales tax benefit would be lost on trade in, + title, plate transfer and $ for your time searching / travel / having to dick around looking for / negotiating on a replacement (their time isn’t free, nor should yours be).

I would take the money and put it towards a new Camaro at another dealer. I would not be giving this dealer any more business.
