Since the C7 will likely be almost 1000lbs lighter than the 2012 MY Z28 which will weigh probaly about 4000lbs, I again think there will be nothing to worry about.

Edit: remeber hp is not everything, and people who shop for 2 seater performance cars like the vette knows that.
Don't think it matters. According to the article, they want it comfortably away from the vette price.

Edit - And so does everyone else, for that matter.

Pricing.
Let's all think about this for a bit. Start off at 35k. The price of the LSA engine alone is 10-12k. (On my phone, will check that later). So that right there puts the price in the 46-48k range. We are obviously not just adding an engine. So lets subtract the price of the LS3 and L99. Thats about 7k. That drops us back down to the 39-41k range. Add price for a few body changes, badging, marketing....etc. all the other stuff involved in adding a new model to a body line.

Its safe to say pricing will be around 44-46k?

Just wishful thinking though.........
That would be a DREAM come true. I would still probably have a hard time affording that, but that's better than $50K+... Only if

I paid $47k+ MD sales tax for my 2010 GT500. The sticker on my loaded car was $51,120. Just know that most 2010 GT500's are going for sticker or less. You know these Z28's are going to be MSRP+ for awhile. Giving the GT500 a real word price advantage for now....

My Prayers have been answered. Praise the automotive gods under the management of God.

Some say that it's invisble to night vision, and that it breaks are made of an element unknown to this world. All we know is that it's called the Z/28!!!

I'd say 2012 model year arrive in summer 2011 for about $47,995; plus $20k markups from dealers.

As cool as it sounds I'll probably stick to my plan of buying a 2-3yr old SS/RS and modding it with $10k-$15k. Blower, upgraded brakes, forged pistons, intake, Z28 aftermarket inspired hood, yada yada.

Or twin turbo charging a 370z, haven't decided and have years to go. Good to have all the competition to help make all these fine cars for the enthusiast.

I like everything about the Z especially the Supercharger!!......

I would buy one for sure if it comes out next year......

My guess for the price: App. 8k to 10k more than the 2010 SS prices with the same equipment.

Just an observation here - "5% MPG improvement per-year will drive US development crazy"

I'm all for the Z28 but this sounds crazy for GM to release a V8 LSA based Camaro one year before 2012-2016 CAFE standards. If it's really a go will it become a smaller engine -think nostalgia 1969 DZ302

http://environment.about.com/od/envi...-standards.htm

The new CAFE standards apply to model years 2012-2016 for all passenger vehicles sold in the United States, including cars, light trucks and SUVs. Significant improvements in fuel efficiency will be required of all new vehicles in 2012 model, with yearly gains of 5 percent or more in subsequent years.

That's what the Cruze and Volt are for.
