I agree I personally don't have the tools machine shop etc. Which is why I sent out to get my block done and do the rest of the work that don't require special tools myself. With some help of dark cry and the forum gurus of course.

Quick post then off to a gig.
This was in a FRC, black and stock looking. I paced him for a while and thought about trying to take the photo but trying to drive a 15 passenger van with a 20 foot trailer and trying that was out of the question. Luckily when I stopped for gas so did he so I got the pic. T.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix. About $800 it sounds like! If you didn't have a problem before i'm not sure how the money is justified.

I don't know what rods you have now or the differences between them or what rod bolts are used on either one.

It's wierd, forged H-Beam rods used to be good to 1,000 hp. Then they started rating them to 700 hp. Now they're up to 800 hp?! Lol. And what about billet rods? Weren't thos supposed to be all but unbreakable. I think those professional race engines used them and they never broke. They weren't $1500. I just don't see how rods can cost that much.

The old motor had these Eagles:http://www.eaglerod.com/index.php?op...d=33&Itemid=40 6.125 CRS6125O3D2000 620g H-Beam 2.1000 .927 1100 704.00 The new motor has the link that I posted a few spots back. I don't mind spending the $$$$, I'm just trying to learn why a rod can be double the price. What do you get for the extra cost? |

Guys,
I am really on the fence after reading about oil performance and shocked to see the final results. In short I have always swore by using Mobil 1 in all my cars and especialy in my Camaro with a greately modded motor. I work for a major auto aftermarket retailer and we sell pretty much any oil available. I received results for racing oils and the recomendations for my car is Brad Penn, Joe Gibbs, Valvoline VR1, Amsoil Racing and Royal Purple Racing Oil. They specificaly indicate DO NOT USE MOBILE 1 as this oil has has important addidtives removed in order to avoid damage to catalytic converters. What are you guys using in your modded motors? Does using these oils plug up the converters? I am running BBK Long tube with Cats. After market cats are a hell of a lot cheaper then repairing a motor due to inadequate oil damage to a motor. They also indicate any racing motor running over 200f MUST USE 20-50 I would appreciate your input!!!! Thanks!!! |
