Update: I was at the shop yesterday and today and was told that there would be no advance info on the cam readily available. All of the technical info will be on the tag when the cam arrives. Two weeks down the road before I can get anything, but an email with the model number is forthcoming. We also decided that once the heads are off they will be drag milled and ported. Consider the cam and heads mod to be about the end of line for these stock pistons and rods.

It's mainly for looks though because the bottom is not smooth underneath like the factory OEM splitter. Then again, it's a lot cheaper and you don't have to drill a million holes for the pop riveted bracket that the factory splitter needs. All in all, it's a nice part for the price.

Now, I guess if you were clever you could add another flat piece of plastic to the bottom to make it function as a real front splitter. I may actually look into doing something like this after I install mine.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I’m looking into a splitter, but didn’t want to break the bank to get the look I’m going for. Did you paint yours or just leave it with the original finish?

I left the original finish, but you can hit it with a couple coats of duplicolor matte black bumper trim spray.

Very interesting. I mentioned earlier in this thread that my cam was a sore subject. I am sore because I was sold a "custom grind" and paid custom grind price, then I received an off the shelf cam. I'm not necessarily dissatisfied with the cam, but if I wanted to pick an off the shelf cam, it probably wouldn't have been a Comp Cam. No offense to you or your build, but I probably would have went another direction if I knew what was going to happen.

That being said, the car did well on the dyno yesterday, so in the end I guess it will work out.

Annual Thorough Detailing...

Actually took two days. Day 1 - wash, clay bar and polish; day 2 - wax, detail tires & wheels and detail inside.

I normally do this once a year in January; but due to some emergency/priority home repair items & the weather, didn't get to until now.

For anyone who has any questions about the usefulness of clay barring, the picture of the bar I used says it all. It was a brand new light gray bar when I started, which was immediately after it was washed. I keep my car clean & detailed throughout the year, yet the bar still removed a lot of contaminates even after just being washed.

Tried to do some research on the RX Performance top mount supercharger for the LFX V6. Can't get a response from the manufacturer on my questions.

What if anything did COMP and/or the dealer have to say about that? Really not good business and I'd be plenty upset also.

Under the circumstances I had going at the time (which are boring and not worth going into here) I had a very narrow window to get the cam installed. The cam arrived and I noticed a part number on it so I googled the part number to find out it is an off the shelf camshaft. I looked at the specs, and the specs looked ok to me. Although I was disappointed at not getting a custom grind, I went head and installed it. I really didn't even think about the fact that I overpaid until later. When I realized I got ripped off, I decided that I would never spend another dime with that particular vendor. I'm not gonna start a big fight over a few bucks, but I certainly won't give that vendor another chance to reach into my wallet either.

If it seems like I am being vague about the vendor, I am. On the off chance it was some kind of honest mistake, I don't want to drag a guy's name through the mud.

All that being said, the cam actually works pretty good in the car. It made 466 whp on a Mustang dyno yesterday, so I guess all's well that ends well. If I can't get the car into the 11s with this cam, I will probably try a GPI cam next.

sweet pic.

I do my first oil change on the camaro and wanted amsoil but that didn't workout this go around. Mobil 1 took care of the oil, while K&N was my oil filter choice.

Replacing the cam can and is a pricey experience on my Camaro. You have to deal with the AC and then there the 'up charge' for pulling the blower. While the heads are off we'll be getting them ported. Even my wife agreed that would be 'cost effective' while it's tore down. So, are you doing your own cam install or do you have a trusted shop? Also, glad to hear that your tune smoothed things out a bit.

Yikes! That's a lot of work, and it does sound like a cost effective time to get the heads ported while the rest of it is already apart.

My tune is awesome now. It's nice driving the car in traffic without worrying that it is going to die. Like a breath of fresh air... lol

I do pretty much all of my own work. I did pay a shop to set up my gears because I just wasn't confident in my skills and I don't have the necessary tools. I also payed to have the car tuned, but I am planning to learn to do my own tuning as well. I'll probably never be a "tuner", but I want to be able to make changes when I do future modifications.
