Can you feel your Automatic Camaro shifting gears?
I know this is a stupid question, but i have a 2013 automatic Camaro. I'm not sure if I noticed it before, but i can feel my car shifting gears.
Also, the reason i'm asking this question is because every now and than i would accelerate my car pretty fast, not sure what RPMs i get up to maybe 4-5k maybe even 6? I don't know if it is because of the cause of this or not. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks |

Mine shifts at WOT right around 7,000 rpms and yes you feel it real good. Shifts even better after you get a good tuner to set up your transmission settings. <----- Thanks Matt@FSP.

Well mine I don't think reaches about 7k, I'm around 2-3k and it shifts. That is from stop. And I can actually feel it shift making my car jerk just a little. Thanks guy.

You must not be at Wide Open Throttle if it only shifts at 2 - 3k. It will get firmer when you really step on it.

Yea i think there was confusion on what i wrote, i meant just casually driving from stop and feeling it shift. I'm not wide open throttle. So do you guys feel that jerk with your automatic at 1-2k? its a small jerk, just wondering if anybody has this a well.

I think what you're feeling is normal. BTW - generally speaking, firmer shifts are better for the overall life of the transmission.

shift
the shift should be smooth not jerk ,take to dealer, did you buy new?
that said a firm shift is good ,but in my stock auto. tran. its smooth maybe a littel firm but no jerk. i would like to have a tune for a firmer shift , fills cool and good for tran. Last edited by darcycook; 09-25-2013 at 07:51 PM. |

It's a little hard to put into words. When a transmission is shifted "smoothly", more clutch slippage is allowed, accelerating wear. With a "firmer" shift, positive engagement of the clutches is achieved with less slippage. Subsequently, you'll feel the gear shifts more. Firm them up enough, like what has been done in my transmission tune, the drive wheel can break loose momentarily ("chirp") while shifting in the lower gears under heavy application of throttle . I'm assuming what you're describing as a "jerk" is not overly violent, so that's why I said it sounds normal. However, if you're concerned, you ought to have the dealer check it out.

Thanks for the info guys. yea i think what i'm feeling is a firm shift, it is not overly jerky but more like a small one. I'll definitely ask the dealer about in my next maintenance schedule
