Question about number of pre sold orders - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I have read that GM has sold as a pre order sale, 14,000 CAMAROS. How does this rate as far as other cars that where released in the past. Did it set a record as far as the pre sold ordering goes?

Maybe fbodfather or camaroscotty can chime in on this one.

I don't know if it is a record or not myself but I do remember that when GM announced the "X" body cars (Chevy Citation, Pontiac Phoenix, Olsmobile Omega, and Buick Skylark) in the spring of 1979 as 1980 models, there was a 6 month waiting list to get one......they turned out to be some of the most recalled cars in GM's history.....hardly worth waiting 6 months for. I am sure The Camaro is going to be worth the wait!

When Mustang brought the retro body back they Pre-sold around 25,000. Can't remember where I found it but I was curious too so that's what I found.
