will 3.73 gears make a noticable diff on an ls3?

It is definitely noticeable. When equipped with the manual transmission (M6) the SS comes with a 3.45 rear end and cruises at just over 1600 RPM at 70 MPH. By upgrading the factory 3.45s in the stock M6 equipped Camaro SS to the 3.73s you will realize an equivalent torque gain of approximately 10% or 42 lb.-ft. of torque and cruise at 1750 RPM at 70 MPH.

With the ls3, if you're gonna do it, go with 3.90 or 4.10

I have AAM 3.70's behind my very mild LS3. Car should have come with 3.70's from factory or as an option in my opinion. 80mph is 2K rpms.

Just for curiosity, if you wanted to upgrade the rear gear, but you want to keep the same RPM when going in the highway, how hard would it be to open up the transmission and change the gears in there?
I want to put a 3.9 or a 4.1 rear gear, but I want to keep the car with the good MPG it makes... I was thinking how hard and expensive would it be to change the size of the 4th, 5th and 6th gear... (as of right now I use 1-3 for fun and just acceleration, 4 for driving in the city, 5 for driving on a higher speed limit still in the city, like 35mph, and 6 for highway)

I went with LPE 3.90 gears and while my highway RPMs went up a bit, fuel milage was not changed dramatically. I would say less then 1 mpg drop and in my opinion, the feel of the lower gears is WELL worth the milage loss.

With that M6, first gear is maxed waaaay to fast because of the 3.01 ratio. 9 to 11 is what I was always told is the total for low gear. The 3.90 or 4.10 is over 12 on the low gear total. Not for me. The 3.73 would be ideal!
