Camaro observations to put the price in perspective

The Camaro offers SRT-8 beating performance (most likely) for 31k msrp.

The Camaro offers SRT-8 matching luxury for 33k.

The Camaro offers Mustang GT smashing performance for an extra 2 grand or so.

The Camaro offers a much better chassis and suspension tuning for 31k

The Camaro will smash the R/T Challenger in performance and build quality and for the same price.

The Camaro's base V8 is just as fast as the more luxurious model

The Camaro's most luxurious model is only 2-3k more expensive than the base

The Camaro will have a finely tuned suspension superior to that of the Mustang and Challenger

The Camaro will offer brembo brakes on a car that costs 31k.

I just wanted to make a few points so people can realize how good a deal this car is.

If you have any observations that you'd like to add to this list, post them here and I'll update.

The Camaro will be the cheapest 300hp car with RWD on the market.

The Camaro V6 will offer 6 speed manual and automatic transmissions. The Mustang only offers a 5 speed manual or automatic and while the Challenger offers a 6 speed manual, it only offers a 5 speed automatic.

The Camaro is lighter than the Challenger.

The Camaro comes with 20 inch wheels for 31k. (I don't actually like 20 inch wheels but considering they're on such a cheap car, it deserves mention).

The Camaro is the only car in the pony car class to be developed at the nurburgring.

I think the new upcoming Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be the cheapest, if not, really close price with Camaro V6.

And Hyundai Genesis Coupe much more lighter, with 310HP 270 TQ, so its little bit faster too.

The estimated price is around 27,000 for V6, and 21,000 for V4 Turbo.

... how is 27k cheaper than 23k?

Unless you mean the V4 turbo is 310hp.

Sorry for the confusion.

My point was that, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 starts around 24,000 and the full option is 27,000.

And the full option Camaro v6 I believe is also around 27,000.

I dont think there is a point arguing over the starting price, because most people put options in their car.

Yes, the Camaro is a hell of a deal.

An LS3 for what, 31k?

Sounds good to me.

I agree Bone... LS3 for 31k... that's why Im here... I love HEMI'S, but this new Camaro just competes so incredibly with the Challengers.... for less too...
One thing confuses me though is the LS2 in the GTO ---- LS3 in the Camaro are rated the same hp??? Do I just need to get a new tune?? Why don't we see an increase in the power rating's??? The LS2 has been around for like 4 years now...

the LS2 and LS3 are not rated the same, the LS3 is at 422. The L99 is rated around 400, but that includes AFM and (correct me if I'm wrong) VVT when tied with the A6.

Yeah people put options on a car, but the Camaro offers 300hp for 23k or so. The Genesis offers a 300hp V6 for around 27k. You can't get a Genesis for 23k. You can however get a Camaro for that price. I'm sure there are going to be very few 23k Camaros out there, but if someone orders it they can get it. I've heard the Genesis is going to be about 3600lbs. That's a little lighter,r but 300hp and 310hp isn't going to make a huge difference. They have near the same torque rating, so it'll be a driver's race.

Edit: The commercial for the genesis coupe clearly said "0-100kmh in 6.5" That's 0-62 in 6.5 seconds. The Camaro is quicker than that.

This car is really such a good deal... go read discussions on Ford Mustang and Challenger forums and they even admit it!
