I wouls urge you not to buy one. There are many still hoping and some even praying to get an allotment. I have one, and in no way have I been disappointed, in fact, expectations have been exceeded. I love the friggin machine, but to each thier own.

It's Lapeer Dragway in Lapeer Michigan. There are plenty of nice tracks to go to; however, this time of year most are not open. We have had this warm weather fluke, so this one opened early. It's about a 45 minute drive compared to 2 hours for the rest. I have not run at this one in the past 10 years, but I got the itch to get the car out to the track last week and this was the best I could do. After you go through the traps you feel like your off roading its so bumpy. Still fun.

I didn't say they needed to get 20k miles on them to run good times, and I don't care how much you think they are broken in from the factory. Fact of the matter is they DO get faster with mileage. The motor is not the only thing that needs to loosen up for them to get faster. Wheel bearings, trannies, diffs, accessories like the p/s pump (well not for the ZL1) and a/c, altinator, even u-joint and bushings. Every part that has to do with moving the car needs to wear in for it to reach it's full potential.

Anyone who says chevy didn't engineer the Zl1 to be a 1/4 mile car should watch the review on Gearz where Al O specifically says the car was designed to dominate on the track and the strip. After all PTM5 is for drag strip launches is it not?

Yeah most cars designed to "dominate" the strip come standard with heated seats, rear view camera, bluetooth, cruise control etc.

Having worked with robots and CNC machines, anytime bearings got replaced a breakin needed too be done by rpm and temperture. Used too be 500 miles long ago and then the breakin oil was changed for regular oil,now it's 1500 miles for the engine rings to seat in. Don't believe the break it in hard, thats a bunch of uniformed people who don't know any better! Think GM is trying too make your car slow?
They just want it to make it through the warranty.

My first post so don't kill me cause I'm a mustang guy. As much as I love the idea that my '11 5.0 can play with a ZL1, the truth is do not give that run a lot of merit. Not everyone drives the same way. Is there a breakin period? I'm sure there is. It will be a bit quicker when the bugs are worked out. But the car will probably not make up the 4-6mph that it should have recorded with break in alone. So it surely has quite a bit of ground to make up. Not a great way to start the buzz of new tech advanced car.

Is this the same hennessey that were so "popular" on the viper forums? If so I suppose the latter won't be too hard to believe.
