Stage 2 ZL1 Build, Chasing 9.xx ET

Current setup (ZL1):

2.55/9.1
ID 1300
Squash Fuel System
E85
BTR Stage 3
1-7/8" Headers
Factory Exhaust
Roto Fab
Exp/Ice Tank
Factory HX
Untouched Heads
Untouched Blower
Lightly Ported 87mm TB
Formato Tune

Stage 2:

Fully Ported LS3 Style Heads
ARP Bolts
Fully Ported Blower
102mm TB
4.5/5" Intake
2" Headers & 3" Exhaust

PB last season:

60 - 1.586
330 - 4.450
1/8 - 6.802
Mph - 104.97
1000 - 8.811
1/4 - 10.521
Mph - 131.29

DA was around 1800

As the title says, I'm hoping with a little more aggressive tuning, some better weather and the stage 2 improvements that I can drive home with a 9.99 or better time slip.

I originally had a drag pack budgeted for stage 2, but let's just say life happened and I needed to spend the extra $3,000 elsewhere. So I will be attempting this on the 20" wheels and MT ET Street S/S.

The only thing I might add to the stage 2 is a 9.55 lower. Any thoughts?

I haven't driven my car since I tore it down over the past winter, but after a long time waiting on parts to arrive, I finally got the car buttoned back up and made it to a dyno Tuesday night to see what I gained.

What changed:
Ported TFS 255 Heads (shaved .028)
Ported Blower, matched to heads
NW 102mm TB
RPM 5" Intake
9.55 LP
C&R HX
E65
Supporting mods (ARP Head Studs & Johnson 2110 Lifters)

The new setup made ~766 hp / 770 ft-lb, which is an 86 hp and 73 ft-lb SAE corrected peak gain. Even greater in certain areas under the curve - dyno sheet attached.

This is on the same dyno (dynojet) about a year apart. I still had some 93 left in the tank when I filled up with pump "flex fuel" on my way to the dyno, which is why my ethanol % was a little down from the previous pull. Both pulls were made without ice. IAT2's at the end of both pulls were mid 130's.

Next step is taking it to the track for some 1/4 mile racing and tuning. Hoping with some good weather and track tuning I can break into the 9's.

Eastern panhandle. I typically run at Mason Dixon, but I really want to get to MIR in the fall when the weather is right.

I run MT ET Street SS, and with the 4 speed ratios and factory 3.23 rear, I won't have traction issues. I cross the traps right at 5k rpm in third gear LOL. This is hurting my mph for sure and likely the ET as well.

I'm still on a 20" wheel and tire setup. I priced out a set of 17" welds today, but at $3500, I am just going to try to get this done on the 20's. Although I will probably pull the trigger on the drag setup for next round of mods.

Looking at the new power band and comparing it to my time slip from the old setup, I THINK I can get a 9.99. MIR is a good track and known to have mineshaft weather in the fall. A c7 z06 I run around with picked up 2 tenths going from Mason Dixon, same day as my slip above, to MIR with good air.

Regardless of what the time slip says, the car is a blast on the street.

It's going to be close with the 20's, but with a lighter weight wheel/tire setup, I'm confident it will go high 9's.

There are some good deals on 18x5 and 17x10 Forgestar packages. Around $1200 shipped for the set.

Formato tuned my ZL1. Last fall at. Ec I ran 10.06@139 on the oem 20" wheels with MT et street. I was very close and probably could of had it in the 9s the next time out but never made it back. Now I added a cage and 17" weld beadlocks with et street R. I'll be back at Cecil with in the month to shoot into the 9s!!
