You might run into it being too small. My 8x8 door was just big enough to get the pump out. Maybe others have 6x6 can respond.

Never until I joined this forum had I seen where people were cutting the side out of the heater box to replace the blend door. Sure GM could have placed access panels on the floor pan like they do in some vehicles...mostly Buick and Cadillac's, but they didn't. And I'm not a engineer but I'm sure there was a reason. Maybe it was cost but I don't know.

We all love and cherish our vehicles, why would we want to hack them up? You can damn near find a easier way to do anything. Doesn't make it safe or right. Seriously, I'm all about tinkering and the whole car hobby but if you don't feel comfortable doing the job correctly, bite the bullet and pay someone else to do it.

Would you rip your girls blouse off or cut her jeans off because it was easier than removing them correctly? Exactly, if not send her to me and I'll do that the right way as well....lol
Well some girls like their blouse ripped a little bit, but we might have dated different women.

I couldn't bring myself to cut the floor, so I put my pump in when I did the cradle bushings. I'll do it the same way on the vert in a few months.

If it's primarily a race car, it's not as big a deal. If you plan of keeping it forever, I don't think I would go cutting the floor pan or other things because it will end up a rattle trap. Even a lot of this awesome aftermarket stuff we use is not really designed to stand the test of time. Guys having a hard time fixing their aftermarket taillights comes to mind, but to each his own.

Grab the black connector on the wide sides, squeeze/pinch and then pull it away from the yellow piece.

Tank

This area shows a wet spot going down to the pump ring could it possibly be leaking from there ?

Usually it's the ring on the pump that fails. I would double check to make sure the leaking fuel is going from what you circled to the pump and not the other way around.
