You might run into it being too small. My 8x8 door was just big enough to get the pump out. Maybe others have 6x6 can respond.

I got the tank out now how do you disconnect the yellow connector?

Grab the black connector on the wide sides, squeeze/pinch and then pull it away from the yellow piece.

This area shows a wet spot going down to the pump ring could it possibly be leaking from there ?

Usually it's the ring on the pump that fails. I would double check to make sure the leaking fuel is going from what you circled to the pump and not the other way around.
