So,

Yesterday I pulled my alternator off the car which due to the motor plates was quit interesting. I got it shipped off to DC Power Engineering in California for a look see..

It didn't like 8,700 rpm. We had talked to them about the balancer size and engine rpm's, and they sized the pulley. I'm to sure they took us seriously, of it wasn't affected by RPM's and was just a random issue.

We'll know by some time next week as it should be there Friday.

Other than that I'm waiting for the job in Houston to start, hoping I get at least a week out of that one.

Alternator?

You don't need no stinkin' alternator...

Ran into a new old trucker the other day, (new to the company, been trucking 30 yrs) he said they put him in a truck with an automatic. Said he loved it. Honestly, if my next one has an auto, I probably won't be complaining for long.....

What's this world coming to? Even truckers are becoming pansies

My brother drove one for a while. Said he loved it... You know, as many miles as you've racked up, it's not being a pansy anymore. It's something you've earned...

Damn sure doesn't mean we won't ride you for it though...

So, tomorrow I'm headed to the shop. DC Power has had my Alternator since Friday and we are going to call and see if they have found anything... We are also going to reiterate that this motor spins right up to 9K rpm and the pulley needs to be sized appropriately if it the alternator won't hang...

Time will tell....

That sucks... Not familiar with their unit, going to look right now...

We called and the only thing they could tell us so far is that the regulator was broken during shipping... Good thing I paid for the insurance... They will send us a report on what they find tomorrow...

Mine will get shipped back tomorrow. Talking to them on the phone they said the front bearing probably came apart based on what it is doing.

Ok, so without any particular information as of yet, my alternator has arrived back at the shop from DC Power.

Corey was surprised and he has tried a couple of times to find out what the deal is, but he is on the dyno all day and I am at home getting some things done and we are about to get hammered with bad weather again.

I'll head to the shop tomorrow depending on weather and whether or not I get the call to go to Houston for work. If I go to the shop, I'll get the alternator and reinstall it on my car when I get home. I need to crank her over to evacuate the oil pan and turbos and then start her up for a bit... Get all the temps up...

Pulley looks quite small for a 9k engine ? Unless you use a smaller crank pulley ?

Which is exactly why we are looking for answers... We are using a standard sized crank pulley.

We should know more tomorrow...

So, Corey got a reply from DC Power Engineering... It was a voltage regulator failure and that we were not over spinning it....

I guess time will tell on that one but i'll be putting it back on the car...

They repaired it all under warranty so cool deal there...
