Well, went though my hour long data log -- looking @ the peaks and valleys -- found this:

This one jumped to 100% Ethanol! Looking @ that, and if I find no issues with the wiring -- looks like another bad GM sensor. I tested the wiring as far as the 'agitate' tests (moving the wiring aggressively without manhandling it) and it never skipped a beat. I'll take it out and datalog again just to see if the aluminized kevlar helps (as far as heat).

Goes to show data logging can be very useful...

Flex Fuel Sensor Issue 2 continued

Well, after all that fun, I finally replaced the sensor again -- this time, I moved it to the 'ZL1' position, added the aluminized kevlar to the back. While I was at it, I had a new fuel hose (this one has been off a lot, so rather than keep taking it off, I put the sensor and fuel line on). I took it for an initial drive without data logging. I setup my aeroforce annunciator for alcohol to light up if I get below 00.1% -- tested that by turning on the key -- they lite up while the engine was off. Started it up, reading good, took it for a quick spin (thunder storms coming so I had to do it quick). Got the revs up, worked like a charm! I'll do a full data log, but this time, no '0'%. I had a HELL of a time taking off the DSX adapter from the fuel line. When it seals, it seals!

Here are some pics of the 'proper' ZL1 setup:

This is where it was 'supposed' to be in the first place -- I think I'd rather eliminate that as an issue.

Now, normally, I'd do each 1 @ a time but, since I had everything new, and I already had things off, there was no sense in having to do it again. I know it was not the older hose, I tested the new sensor and it showed the % Alcohol correctly even with the older hose. Now that I have the new hose and sensor in the proper place, I'll do a full log tomorrow to prove my diagnosis -- it was the sensor again (from a local dealer too!).

The one I have in now, is from DSX, and it appears to be working correctly!

Danger Will Robinson!

Something I want to show. I was testing the 'aux pump' pressure (using the 1 bar sensor) and I noticed a bit of fuel leaking around the hose fitting near the evap connector. One thing to keep in mind, when you change out from the DSX fitting to stock, you need to add the clip back:

I'm lucky I caught that -- could have been a bad thing had I not -- so keep that in mind when you change things up...

Your setup is just absolutely amazing. Seriously man, it makes me very happy to see someone take so much time, care, and effort to put together a build like yours. Then to top it off, you take even more of your time to put together invaluable 'How To' guides and videos for the community.

Oh jeez. Someone put a speed limiter on that thing so he can't reach 88mph, travel to other times and really cause a ruckus.

Thanks! I try to show the good and not so good, as well as lessons learned. I've learned a lot and hope folks can get something out of all this. These cars are just amazing and I'm greatful I own one. I like giving back and sharing so others can decide for themselves what they can do with their rides....

I forgot to post these on the new flex fuel arrangement (ZL1 Style):

Now, I'd like to 'clip' the upper hose connection, but there is simply no room for the factory clip to work. I'll see if I can come up with something that might work...

Anyway, this is how the instructions from DSX show the 'correct' setup for the ZL1.

I could never get the sensor arranged on my car to stop pushing the lid off. Wish there was a better location. When I took it off and sold it, the fuel line went with it. Once it clicks, it's permanent. Lol

Yep, That is why I replace the fuel hose with a new one -- its a BEAR to get off. Hose + sensor is around $100 if you replace as a set. I really do wish there was a tool that could get in there -- or an extension to the sensor fuel line would be awesome.

My setup actually fits under the beauty cover nicely -- no issues at all with plenty of room. This location makes better sense than where I had it. We'll see how it all does tonight when I do another data log session...
