I tried to model mine after a '69. That's one of the reasons I went with a non-RS. I wanted the chrome headlights that the RS did not offer. I also had custom stripes made to resemble the wider and longer stripes that were put on a lot of 1st Gens.
At one point I had the Hurst shifter which is retro looking but I only kept it for about 2 weeks. It didn't perform like I wanted so I went with MGW. Even though it's a more modern shifter knob it's a much better shifter IMO. I think I came fairly close.
