Exclamation Urgent - How to drain/fill rear-end fluid

Okay - now don't take me for being dumb, I have changed many rear-end fluids on trucks before, easy, bottom plug drain, top plug fill. Problem is, this rear end doesn't look anything like them and there are so many bolts in various locations I am not sure which is the drain and which is the fill, please help - I am trying to get this done before going on a cruise with a bunch of friends tonight.

Thanks!

Are you swapping the fluid? Like with a red line fluid?

I am changing out the current fluid with Mobil 1 75W-90 as recommended by the manual at 1500 miles if planning on racing the car. So I just need to drain the existing fluid then put the new fluid in.

Hmm, I didn't notice that in the manual. Good to know. Make sure I'll get that done with my first oil change.

Yea, it is under the "break-in" section

Wow, that's cool. I wonder how they define "racing", and whether if you do in fact track the car and something blows up, they'll still fix it as long as you did what the manual told you to do.

I was apparently blind - two plugs are located on passenger side. They use a 3/8" socket. Amazingly they are magnetic plugs, had some shavings on them but not much - all is changed and ready to go

The manual says you need to use GM fluid (new criteria) with LSD additive...

Did you check into that? Just a heads up

Kind of off topic, but does the manual say anything about flushing out the rear end for just normal use?

You don't flush gearboxes unless your rebuilding. Just change fluid as scheduled.

I'm pretty sure that is what he meant. He just wanted to know for normal use should you change the fluid.

so, what you guys think is the best gear oil? Royal Purple, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Red line, or get the stock stuff with the additive?

Also whats the recommended weight?

I am pretty sure Mobil 1 is acceptable - this is directly off of the label on the back:

I did however send Mobil 1 an e-mail asking to verify, we will see what they say.
