i just got back from a 50 mile trip highway and just some city. on the highway there it was 26mpg, once i factored in some city and came home it was 21...which sounds about right.

the 9-10 i get is pure city in fort lauderdale, which consists of going about 22mph on average and stopping at a light every 100 yards. so 9-10 for those conditions might actually be accurate.

I have essentially the same car but a 13. K&N CAI and SLP long tubes....no tune. I get just a tick over 25 on highway, and 19 or so city. I drive in metropolitan Washington DC traffic and my ave is around 20. Difference is probably the tune, but even considering that 9-10 just doesn't seem plausible.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but you could easily get lower than 9 or 10 with lots of stop and go city driving…..you could get 0 if you just left it idling til the tank was empty.

Agreed with this. When my 2011 L99 SS had only a CAI, LT's and a tune, driving around town with lots of traffic lights and stop signs here in Melbourne, north of you, I was getting around 16-18 in town and right at 24.5 highway at 72mph, 1800rpm. So yea something just isn't right with your in town mpg. Heck, now with the big cam I have AND 4500 stall I still get between 13-15 in town!!

DC traffic is terrible for sure. I do know the 25mpg is pretty much what i was getting on the highway, even though a small sample size. speaking of plausibility, could it be getting good hwy mileage and bad city mileage? that would mean something would have to specifically be wrong only in city conditions, and that doesn't seem that likely. it seems like the problem would be constant.

What's wrong with you people? I have never checked my gas mileage and never will. I could care less. I bought it to be a fun car I enjoy modding and driving. When its empty I fill it. eos.

OK but monitoring how your car is behaving and noticing differences is part of diagnosing a problem and catching things before it becomes really bad.

Considering what EMB135 said, I guess if you drive 20 blocks through bumper to bumper traffic, stop and return back the same way repeatedly and never hit the highway for a period of time it probably is possible to get that low of fuel economy. Under that scenario consider this...engine run time to cover 20 blocks at 20mph stop and go is 10x more than if you were cruising along at 60 mph over the same distance.

You sir were very polite, adult, and correct in your response!
Now me, I'd have thrown around lack of critical thinking, its not a Mustang, etc.

just an update, after more driving and resetting the average MPH gauge and the MPG gauge at the cycle of every refill, my MPG is still about 10 but my average MPH is about 12.

so i guess ultimately 10mpg makes sense with an average speed so low. when i lived in texas i got about 16mpg with an average mph of 27...
