So, they aren't weights they are Harmonic Dampeners. That could make sense do to the fixed differential. Thanks

They were never "weights", but only called that because they resembled wheel balancing weights. They have always been there to provide harmonic dampening.

That sounds like something Mr. Spock would say.

FYI, for those who are newer to the community, here was GM's explanation for the original brake weights:

Some early Camaro customers noticed that there are weights on the Camaro SS calipers. With high-performance vehicles like the Camaro SS, minor brake noise is not uncommon. The weights act as a damper to reduce noise in certain driving conditions. This was done after careful evaluation and validation by our engineering team. These weights will only be added to early builds of the Camaro SS.

Looks as though GM has expanded there "Evaluation and Validation" and redesigned the newer parts. It would seem to me to be a good idea and would diminish the oscillations up and down each axle half. Might lesson the wear on the CV's as well. I want some!

So for those of us with the hodge podge stick on (Harmonic balancers) are we getting retrofitted, or just ride with what we have?

They may look fugly to some, to me its a whole lot better than the large chunk of black painted lead that look like wheel weights.

V/R,
Nick

Breaking down the 2010 Camaro is going to take at least thirds. The 2010 1/3 Camaro features brake weights. The 2010 Camaro 3/3 features roller skates. We've had a very interesting model year in braking.

Go see your dealer. This is why we have warranties.

WTF. Those are hideous! I guess people with those won't be able to run 19" or 18" wheels.

Aren't the stock wheels 19 inches?
