I have to agree. I won't say that it is impossible that the LS7 will make it into the ATS-V but I will say that it is highly unlikely. Everything that DG wrote makes a lot more sense.

Like I said at C6, I would love to know where this guy got his info.

It would basically be a $10,000 premium for 40 hp

I think it would be awesome, but not sure if the LS7 would be compatible with an auto transmission with the DCT? Maybe I'm wrong?

So would you pay nearly the price of a CTS-V and accept 140 HP less?

This is very unlikely. The reporting is consistent with the speculative nature of car mags.
If they did this—and I strongly doubt that this would even take place—it would probably be a 1-year going away party for the outgoing LS7. That engine was planned for obsolescence years ago, but it was just too hard to say goodbye. Now, it's time. The LT class of engines have to take the lead now.

Yep, and 400 pounds less too! I would prefer the 6-speed manual...I don't need 3 overdrives. Love the idea of NA engine, tons of potential with heads , cam , intake and headers.....very streetable, and that 140 hp would be easy to recapture and not have the heat soak issues. But I will be keeping my CTS V Coupe 6-speed for what its worth ( and buy an ATS V+ LS7 manual Coupe).

could gm had been working on a DI ls7, and it is the engine that failed to meet their power goals and failing emissions? Isn't the lt1 basically an ls3 with DI? And doesn't DI make engines more efficient?

The LT1 was a fresh design from what I've read with little in common with the LS engines. It does make me wonder if a rejected NA DI design for the ZO6 is what they did hear but just thought someone meant the LS7. Probably a better chance this is modern crap journalism as usual. Can we say, ZL2? Lol

I agree highly unlikely, they even mention it with an 8 speed auto, this right here is the big tip off.
That engine has never been backed by an automatic from the factory and would get hit with a GG tax.

But around half the added weight on the C7 Z06 was due to the fact that its supercharged instead of naturally aspirated.
