I am thinking I may have to buy a beater w/front wheel drive for the winter. I haven't had rear wheel drive since my 86 Buick Regal. |

I don't know if it's been asked but does the Camaro 1SS have DRL's?

Headlights will be the DRL's if you don't have the RS package. With the RS package, the foglights will be the DRL's.

I made a custom switch in my 4Runner to turn them off and on. Used dry transfer letters and some semi gloss clear spray over them to label the switch. It was easy to hookup and cost $4. Did the same thing to turn off traction control as well. I guess DRLs are OK, but I do want the option of turning them off and on.

DIC functionality is controlled by a "menu" button on the LH Stalk (turn signal) by pushing "menu" you can get two sets of information. Heather already stated the options that are available. You cycle through the menus by twisting a ring on the stalk, so only one piece of information is displayed at at time. So there is a button labled menu and a ring with arrows on it that you can twist away from you or toward you to cycle through the display.

As for DRL's it may be as simple as looking at a wiring diagram and disconnecting a wire from a relay. Thats what I did on my cav, but a DRL trouble light came on the dash and I modified the back of them and eliminated the light. There may need to be more wiring involved if there is a DRL malfunction light on the dash or it could be computer changeable through hp tuners or something like that, IDK how it is setup.

as for the DRLs, on my 99, if you just pull wires or fuses, it'll reroute to use the whole headlight system. i believe now you just click the headlight switch back a notch to disable the DRLs/auto lights. if not, i'm gonna be ticked. i just spent today tearing my dash apart to mod the light sensor to bypass the auto light system. (99 was the only year without a factory bypass)

Why is turning DLRs off such a big deal? I can see not seeing benefit in them, but what is the harm?
I really like the DIC control setup on the stalk. That's quite clever. Using the two buttons in the Cobalt is a bit awkward. This should be much easier to use. Sure the power, handling, looks, and heritage make you fall in love with this car, but it is these little details that make it a smart buy. I like that.
