GMPP axle back?

I really like the off road version of the GMPP axle back. It's noticeably louder than the regular axle back.
After hearing it yesterday, I ordered one.

Fast forward to today (2/25/10)
This is an old thread. I no longer run the GMPP axle back.

Another question.
Does the L99 and LS3 axle backs from SLP, Borla differ. Or are they the same?
Is the axle back section of the L99 and LS3 exhaust the same?

No where did you read the off road is for the ls3 only. On the GMPP website that milk has all the mods posted in shows it for both. Part number is 92231570. Now your second question the Borla's and the SLP are differnet, but dont know if the ls3/l99 exhaust are the same at the back.

I read it in a thread. A guy said that the off road version was for the LS3. So I called my dealership (part department) and asked them. They said the
off road axle back was only listed for the LS3. But to be honest, I don't know if they know what's going on.
But he did look it up on his computer and he said it was for the LS3.

But if the axle back section of the exhaust of an L99 and LS3 is the same any axle back exhaust should work on both cars?

Well I got an email response from GMPP customer service.

GM's Performance exhaust system 92231570 is not specific to automatic or
manual transmissions.
Thank you, Scott

So the post I read and the parts departments at my dealership were mis-informed.

Here's the post I read that made me call the parts department.

Quote:sounds great, what system did you order i think there is 3 type, w/o tips, w/tips, and w/tips off road use only?
*edit: the off road use only is for the LS3 as i see now you have an L99

any chance of a video of a take off and drive by, and maybe a rev video from outside instead of being in a smaller space like that?

The quote is from this thread (post #16):http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30980
He's probably thinking of the full catback, not the axle back.

I installed the axel back on my car tonight, very easy to do, took me about 20 minutes and they sound good. I did not get the off road set, I went with the other and they do sound good. Make sure you have a sawzall with a metal blade, tape measure, sharpie and a 15mm socket. If you have the tools make sure you do it yourself and save the cash, it's very very easy.

I have a 3 1/2 inch "C" type tube cutter, Will I have room to rotate it rather than using a sawzall?

This thread is really old. I had the GMPP "off road" axle back for a while. It's fairly aggressive. It looks and sounds just like the Borla S type axle back.

I now run a different setup (Kooks long tubes with Magnaflow catback).

I wanted to get long tubes while still keeping my car relatively quiet. I was also concerned with drone. I want a nice quiet cruise.

The Magnaflow Street is probably the quietest catback on the market. It works great with long tubes for guys that want to keep the noise level in check.
But my setup is still fairy aggressive (sounds great) above 3000 rpms, but its real quiet while cruising and its also not too loud on cold starts ups in the morning (something I was concerned about).
