Tire question

As we all know the stock SS rear tire size is 275/40/20. I found a great deal for michelins but the size is 275/35/20. Will the 5mm difference make any difference or cause damage?

These are things to consider as you compare your choices. That will be a shorter tire in overall diameter at 27.6 inches so your revolutions per mile will change. Factory tires are 28.7 inches. The Difference effects the antilock brakes, Gas mileage, gear ratio and speedometer to name a few. Also since it is more than an inch lower it will ride somewhat harder.
In addition you will also loose load carring capacity. Factory tire carries 2094 lb per tire load capacity. The michelin is 1874 lb per tire. I personally would consider an alternative that would be within a halfinch or less difference in overall diameter.

the middle number (40/35) is not a measurement, it's a ratio, or percentage-- meaning that the height of the sidewall is 40/35 percent of the width. that being said, the difference between the two sizes is too large. the difference needs to be less than 3% or half an inch in diameter.
