Is there an on board computer setting to allow my '96 Camaro RS to use the aftermarket Alpine SEC-8028 alarm to function?

I had Circuit City install it in 1998. When they were trying to get it to work, I remember they told me they had to call the 'factory' to set the system so it would work. I vaguely remember them saying they had to bypass some on-board setting, but I don't remember. Now my car has been out for 2 weeks, hooking battery back up, it is no longer functioning.

Anybody know what I'm talking about or if there is a 'trick' to allow the aftermarket alarm system to function?

The trick is to never have circuit city install your alarm.... Find a local shop next time :/ .. But do you have a manual? If they didn't give you a manual either that's another reason to never use them.

After trying multiple things last night, I figured out that if I do the 'stock alarm' setup (as shown in the owners manual) and the Alpine install setup for synching the remote (I also pressed the Panic and ext-1 buttons at the same time, not sure if that helped), it actually worked. Now to configure it back to how I had it...
