Lots of mountain twisties where I live, so I intend to do some "spirited" driving after I do the break-in mileage on my SS. Only have 780 miles on the clock to date. But for now, I have been driving with the TC and StabilitraK OFF (hold button down for 6 seconds before driving off).
I'll have to experiment, but I have seen one video of a guy test driving on the track that mentioned he did so with just the TC turned off. The Owner's manual suggest going into "competition mode" (two quick pushes of the TC button) for said activity. I'll try both ways and see what does it for me after I get closer to 1,500 miles and a fresh oil/filter change.

My car actually behaves better with it off when I press hard on the accelerator. I think the power adders confuse the computer when the traction control is on and I punch it a bit.

No need to push my car to it's limits, have enjoyed some fairly spirited driving, and left rubber behind without touching the nannies. Of course if I try the autocross course this summer at Super Chevy I'll give it a go but for my daily driving, TC stays on.

Always on for me unless I want to launch, donut, or burn rubber. I am quite paranoid about the rear end coming loose after a hard shift at speed. It happened to me in a modded LS2 GTO doing 60, and a couple times in my last camaro on the highway. Only one time landed me in a ditch , but both scared the hell out of me. I was fearless in my last AWD vehicle, but now that Im back in a RWD Im paranoid again. Out of practice in keeping the rear end under control I guess, so I let the computer deal with it.

is it me or does the car seem to have more pick up when the TC is off?

Never thought about it until this thread. I've never ran with it off. I've been wondering how my tires have lasted this long (23k). I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it. I may make it my new year resolution to run with it off.
