Could mean AWD... and that license plate could mean 2576 lb-ft of torque at the wheels at 35mph, the Hellcat made just over 4010 lb-ft at the wheels at 35mph. That would be one hell of a drag car

Dodge is really doing awesome things nowadays. It's good to see them catering to enthusiasts like this. Some of us just want stupid fast straight line acceleration, enough tire smoke that people call the fire department, and classic weird and crazy Dodge styling.

The Demon isn't going to be the most refined car out there, but it doesn't need to be. With a supercharged HEMI and 315 series drag radials on all corners, it's going to be one badass automobile.
Yeah, Chrysler paid the royalties to Warner Brothers in '72 but it was more expensive than it was worth.

It wasn't the word demon, it was the Logo, like Road Runner and Wily Coyote.
Remember when the '74 GTX came out and had a "Beep, beep, my ass" sticker on it?

People at car shows, 1/4 mile tracks and race parks around the world know nothing about cars? That's peculiar. These venues are the real world.

"Oh, you think that Hellcat can beat my Z/28 around Laguna Seca because it has 707 hp? Well, lets' pack up and I'll show you you're dead wrong.".

Auto shows are full of knowledgeable people with countless years of auto engineering, racing, building, etc.. All tracks, be it 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile or road course, are proving grounds for what a car can do in the real world. Some 22 year old yuppy watching a car commercial with outlandish stunts and explosions can easily be proven wrong with facts. Take it to the track. TV commercial (fantasy) vs. Auto show/track (real world)...I'll take the latter.

Peace.

Na, AWD for a drag car would be pretty dumb. Yeah, may help this tank get off the line, but the added weight, parasitic losses, and such would hurt trap speed and ET overall.

Plus, pretty sure the x ray video they showed before the last one did not show any sort of diff in the front.

Finally, it would have to be a all new AWD set up, as the current one can't even hold the 5.7 hemis power.

Bottom line to me is, yeah it's kinda a cool car, but with Dodge having absolute trash for small and midsize cars, wouldn't the R&D/advertising/marketing/engineering/etc/etc money have been better spent elsewhere?

The x-ray also didn't show a bunch of components and had an old school steering rack (not rack and pinion)... I'm not sure why else they would go through the trouble of having such wide drag radials in the front. The SRT8 Jeep has AWD with the Apache, and the upcoming Track Hawk edition will have Hellcat power on top of that. Maybe they developed that new AWD system to fit into the Charger/Challenger as well? It's all speculation at this point though.

Charger platform has been running AWD with the 5.7 for the last 10 plus years, these cars have quite the premium as well. Everything I have heard would indicate that AWD will not be offered in the new Hellcat Demon.

Yup, who knows what they are going to do. I know I have read that the current AWD can't take the power, and the current Jeep set up won't fit? I will say one thing, if it's not AWD, and has DR's on the front, that is beyond stupid...maybe these "Demon" Nittos are a new compound or something?

Perhaps the Demon will use the new 2017 Challenger GT AWD customized system?
They says its 100% rear wheel drive except when certain conditions are met it sends ''some'' power to the front wheels.

Dodge runs the AWD in the Charger for the Police so it will work for the 5.7 in the Challenger but why would they. For the Hellcat though that is a different story the trackhawk system will not fit and again why would they do it.

This is the AWD Charger http://www.topspeed.com/cars/dodge/2...-ar171186.html

Don't know, but I read that Dodge said the Hemi wouldn't work with the AWD in the Challenger a few times...not sure why?

An all wheels drive 700 hp challenger with a true track set up would interest me. I hate dodge.. but I would take a real look at an American muscle car with that kind of power that could put it down on all 4 wheels and tear up a road course.

What they did to accomplish the weight loss is simply embarrassing. They need a new platform any day 3 years ago..
