I've been using the Escort 9500I in a few of my cars. Along with Waze on road trips.

Top choices are Redline or V1 imo.

I've had 9500 and Redline... Redline is definitely better.

Directional arrows

Bogey counter

Can be sent in for upgrades as new features/technologies are added

I got the Redline because it was on sale for less vs V1. I don't care about the arrows or bogey counter, all I want is an alert and a signal strength meter.

Cops have been using the same radar and laser for many years, I'm not sure upgrading is a big deal.

Tests show they are very close in range so I'd just pick whichever one is cheaper or you like the looks of better.

To each, his own, of course.

I should mention that I run WAZE along side the detector because more info is better.

I like the directional arrows because they help me to know where the threat is. One time, I had a state trooper creeping up behind me on the interstate and had I not known the increasingly strong signal was behind me, I might not have spotted him prior to slowing down. So, I find it helpful knowing how to direct my attention.

I like the bogey counter because let's say every day I pass a certain spot with a signal, like a construction sign or something. If I am moving along, I expect to get a signal there, so I don't worry. However, if I check the bogey counter and see that instead of the expected single signal, today I have TWO, that tells me that Officer Boie is hiding there to pick off the unsuspecting, and I know to slow down.

Yeah, I keep it simple... Hear a beep, slow down. Faster beep and more bars mean slow down faster.

Just FYI there is a version of the Uniden R3 that is about to come out that includes the arrows. To the best of my knowledge, this detector would then offer both the best sensitivity on the market with the primary feature that had previously separated it from the V1. I am very happy with the R3, which is the one that I am running.
