Wandering in on this thread a bit late. All I can say is wow... if you're this hyper-protective unreasonable with a car I hope you never attempt parenting.

Go to your dad and apologize for being a twit, then give him the keys and let him go have fun. You go find a chair in a corner and sit there for a while.

If you don't like the way people drive, then don't let people drive your car. This Camaro does drive a little different and it does take a little time getting used to the car. You can't get mad at someone when you let them drive. Just say no next time or deal with it.

I don't let anyone drive my car except for my boyfriend whom I live with. I wish my dad was still around, I would totally let him take it out on a spin. He had the 1967 fire engine red Camaro. I had my share of grinding the gears on that puppy. But I learned!

I can totally understand where you are coming from. I'm a pretty big freak over my car. I've had it for almost three weeks and I am sure it will wear off a little.

I say be protective of your car, it's yours. Make sure you only let family drive it though. I'm pretty sure they will respect your car. =)

My folks live in another state...I don't get to see them as much as I'd like and as they get older, this is something I feel I will regret.

Last time I visited them was the first time they saw my car, and I let my dad take it out for a spin with me.

As he cruised around town...took it to his workplace to show off his son's car to his coworkers...really stretched her out on the highways a bit...and then, on the way back, we caught a red camaro 2ss with temp tags still on it...thumbs up were exchanged and he just wore this huge grin the rest of the day.

The smile on his face from him getting to do that is something that is far more important than any car.

We drove our brand spanking new Bonneville over to my parents house. My parents had just pulled up into their driveway. My Dad got out and banged our car with his door -- putting a nice little white ding in our two-hour old car. I rubbed it to see if the white paint would come off. Nope. I never spoke to my Dad again.

Just kidding. I blew it off. It got christened by Dad who was so excited about our new car he couldn't get out of his car fast enough. No biggie.

And I wish my parents were around to see my IOM Camaro when I get it. They would love it and be so happy.
