For those of us racing our 5th Gens and holding them back to avoid the roll cage requirements::

But no one has figured out what unaltered means. If you add a supercharge is it now altered? Quote from article. We’ve yet to conclude the exact meaning behind the wording “unaltered” in the text and whether that refers to the vehicle frame or the existence of power adders and the like. |

Yes... I see your point. The way I read it was an unaltered body/frame, since convertibles still have to meet the rollcage requirement, not necessarily an unaltered engine. So I guess we will wait for the final word on that.

Its got to be body & frame with some one tring to lose wieght. by removing braces support panel air bags there a lot you can cut away.
As for eng mods the supercharger on my car is just as safe as one with out a supercharger. My question is sun/moon roof were do thay fall in ????? Its not a complete hard top. |

I know a lot of tracks have been letting cars like ZR1, Porsche TT, etc run without roll bars since they can run faster than 11.50s bone stock.
Unaltered might mean - stock from the factory? |

I'm thinking if they let factory stock cars run without bars, the some track might be more lenient with late models cars like ours.

If you need it or want it Tim at RPM roll bars will help you with a bolt in certified 5th gen roll bar.

I have been running 10.80's to 11.20's for two years in my cobalt with not one issue. Has never raised a flag at any of the three tracks I have raced at. One of them which is my home track is Norwalk. I like how I can run 9's all day on the bike tho with just a helmet, jacket, and gloves with jeans on lol and have to have a full suit in the car.

It does seem the rules have lightened up for our late model cars.
This from the the track in Indy. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263903 |

This applies to unaltered factory cars.
I don't think people with modded cars should get too excited till that is cleared up. hmmm |

This article mentions GT500's specifically. But they are not factory built, but rather factory authorized modifications.
The chassis is deemed safe in this configuration, what is the difference in when I build the motor? I believe the rule should specifically mention unmodified chassis, i.e. air bags, no lightening, and so on. |
