Octane booster? Tune keeps reverting And have to perform fuse pull. Cali gas

Hi all. I live in California. 91 octane is as good as it gets. When I first bought my 12ss I performed the fuse pull and it worked wonders. Fast forward a couple years and I have a small centrifugal Supercharger.. All else stock. Recently I noticed all my power was gone. I confirmed this when I ran my brothers stock 14 and got beat.

Last night I pulled fuse 5 and 20 just to see if that would fix my issue and it has. It would seem this car doesn't like California gas. If I added octane booster to each tank would that help? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Yeah but not practical. A good tuner tunes for the fuel available. I'd take it back to the tuner with the 91 in the tank. Set the tables to perform best on that. Which is going to a struggle with a supercharger, high compression, and low octane.

Most likely your car is knocking because of the boost, and because it's knocking it's falling down to the low octane table.

Did you get a new tune after the boost was added?

Don't put a band aid on it. Why not just tune for 91?

Water injection system might help a lot.

I agree with others, take the car back to the tuner. Something isn't right if it's kicking back down to a different fuel table. Also, you might consider switching gas stations. Maybe the guy running the fuel truck doesn't know how to put premium into the premium tanks at the gas station?

I was under the impression that the tuner usually copies the high octane table to the low octane spot so they are the same. That is why the fuse pull is usually irrelevant on tunes cars. Maybe yours didn't do it.

Most tuners won't do that , if you get bad gas and don't realize it's knocking you will destroy your motor

They often reduce knock sensitivity but almost never copy the high over to the low table

I might be the odd one out but if I needed octane booster I would just use it every tank. What's the big deal if it stops the knock and let's you get your power ,then use it

Yeah, you do it ONLY when tuning to dial things in, but then you put the low-octane map back in. It's bad to completely take it out of the tune. You never know if you get bad gas, or if a mistake happens.

Octane booster really doesn't do much. When you read a bottle that raises octane 5 points, that's not making 87 octane 92, it's making 87 octane 87.5.

That's why some people mix with race gas or 100 octane when they want to boost their octane.

You don't want octane booster period, you want Concentrated Race Fuel.

These are the two I'm familiar with
Race Gas
or
Torco

I've used Torco for a good 10 years or more on "many" different performance vehicles. I've had numerous street Vehicles through the years that were set up to be ran on C12 or even C16. I'm a sucker for a 800 to 1000 HP Street Car or Pick Up, waaaaaay to many to talk about LOL....

Torco won't destroys your Cats or 02 Sensors either, only down side is orange spark plugs, LOL

$20.00 for 32oz, I can get 93 octane so I generally would add a can to each fill up (10 to 15 gallons). Ya it's an extra $20.00 but still a hell of a lot cheaper than running it 24/7 on 105, C12, or whatever....

Might be worth a try ?
Unfortunately with 91 octane you would have to use more, it all depends on your target octane

93 octane chart

91 octane chart

I get them on ebay for @ $20.00 a pop and free shipping when you buy a 6 pk
