How do you drive with AFM off, I didn't think you could turn it off.

You cannot turn it off, the Range device plugged in will automatically turn it off while it is plugged in...no settings to turn off in vehicle.

I bought an extension for OBDII port with a switch built in. Just switch it off or on while driving.

Not a good idea to turn on and off while the car is on...will cause CELs.

Agreed. I turn my switch on before I start the car. You can even turn it on while the car is still in park. Do not turn it on while driving.

To shut it off, you can wait until the car is in park or when you shut the car off. Do not turn it off while driving.

I have the diablosport module. I can do with it as I please, and the car reacts accordingly. It's been almost a month since I've removed it from the obd2 port.

I have had no issues with it's performance or anything attributed to it.

the only caveat is the flashing light sequence it goes through to activate. Said sequence does have to complete before it locks in V8 mode. If I'm in v4 mode and it activates, it stays in v4 mode until the next transition, then stays there.

havings said that, my car hasn't seen v4 mode in roughly 12,000 miles.

Looks like both companies also sell the an opposite module for increased v4 usage.

https://rangetechnology.com/
https://www.diablosport.com/shop/act...nt-module.html

I assume that is much less popular purchase but a nice 3 way way switch would be cool if money were no object... stock, v8 only mode, max v4 mode. Why not have all possible options?

A 3-choice switching feature built right into a single device would certainly allow one company (range vs diablosport) to set itself apart from the competition. They already put those lights in there. Maybe... Position 1 (yellow) stock OEM brains, Position 2 (turns red) v8 only, Position 3 (turns green), max v4 eco mode.

Ah crap, I just talked myself out of this idea until they combine all the choices

Why would you buy this product & add a switch to turn on & off.
Your DOD/AFM already does this on the car through the ECM, when I stomp the pedal the AFM is off until I let off the throttle. Just sounds like more snake oil.

You add a switch to turn it on and off because the only way to get it to stop draining batt Is to pull it out of the OBD. Constant use daily of the OBD will wear down that connector, and you don't want to do that.

Because I want the capability to turn it off and leave it off. It sounds horrible when it goes between V4 and V8 mode with an aftermarket exhaust. Plus all you do is unplug it and there is nothing to show that you disabled it. My car is having the transmission shudder and want to see if this helps. I want to keep the power train warranty so tuning it out was not an option for me. Don’t want one don’t buy one problem solved. Have a nice day.

Have you actually experienced this? I’ve only heard the opposite. That starting the car with it activated can cause a cel because it’s on during the initial check sequence. I would always start the car and then flip the switch to on while it was still in park. Sometimes I would forget and flip it on after I had already started driving. Never had a CEL. This was with a Diablo, maybe a Range is different.

I can't hear mine switch between V8 & V4 mode at all. Also transmission is super smooth, can't even tell when it shifts between gears at normal driving. I see a lot of people on hear with the transmission shudder & V8-V4 mode problems. You all must be driving these things to death & thanks, I had an awesome day!

Agree with Glen E. You buy the switch so you do not have to constantly plug and unplug the range finder from the OBD2 port. Plus, the switch allows you to shut the range finder off and leave it plugged in to the OBD2 port without draining the battery.
