Is any body making over 1000rwhp?

Just wondering what you guys are doing to get 1000rwhp or above. I was making 770 on stock bottom end & spun all the main & rod bearings. Went back with a stroker kit. 413 ci I think. Made 770 on the new setup w just 8 lbs of boost due to the increased volume. Tried to pulley it up & it ran out of supercharger. Only supercharger we could find big enough was the kenne bell & it required a hood change. So we decided to go with nitrous. I'm Waiting on final numbers now. Just wondering what other options have been tried.

there are 3 that I have seen without spray.

2 twin turbo's and one 4.0L whipple

I have seem some in the 900 range I though with spray and stock blower if memory serves me right. I would talk to ADM they seem to have the TT stuff worked out good.

I think new era did the 4.0L whipple car if memory serves me.

I am sure there are more I have not seen.

The stock blower starts running out of steam after 800. Twin turbo leaves a lot of room on the table. I think you can get about 900whp with a heartbeat blower.

Any links to the 4.0L whipple build? Would love to read up on that thread

I would like to see the whipple build also. We called whipple & they said they didn't offer a zl1 supercharger at this time but would in the future. They just didn't know how long.

Here is a link to the whipple build thread:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298073

I did a lot of communicating with the cars owner and even considered buying the car at one time. He never did fully get all of the bugs worked out of it. When you go over 1000 whp that is where the stock ZL1 drivetrain starts to go south. If you just drive around town and mash it for a few seconds at a time it will be fine but if you line it up at any racing venue and try to run it you are going to have some problems.

The biggest problem with the 4L Whipple is he had to cut the cowl and remove the windshield wipers. That supercharger cannot fit under the cowl period.

I first went over 1000 using the ZR1 corvette blower and nitrous. Hit 1200 on the bottle. Tried to run compound with turbos and a supercharger and could not get it together. Went to the Texas mile last Oct on Turbos only and did 200 mph but did not have the bugs worked out. Trying to go back to compound boost.

Nitrous is a very good interim way to go to 1000whp. The Lingenfelter controler gives you the ability to monitor and adjust everything.

Here is my build thread if you are interested in looking at all my ups and downs along the way:

Spun bearings at 770 huh? Issue with tune at all? I have not read too many people having issue on the bottom end under 800

From what I have been told the factory bearings are one of the first weak links as they are soft and do not tolerate detonation very well. Then the rods and pistons. the factory crank is great for well over 1000hp.

All the bearings were burned. Engine builder said it was like the oil pump quit working. I was at the GA wannagofast event so I was twisting it hard.

The car does have a new owner, he did end up selling it. The bugs did get worked out, it was improperly maintenanced when it was there and we fixed it (someone changed the spark plugs and cracked one, and tugged on some wires doing so and loosened up a wire going into the inlet pressure sensor pig tail). The only issues are when the temperature gets really hot (over 100 degrees) the fuel pump goes into vapor lock after being driven over an hour and the pressure starts to drop still, even after we installed a fuel cooler. We are actually working on a different fuel pump set up right now to address this. Other than that, everything is fine. I actually drove the car for a while last time I was in Dubai just to check everything on it, and just shipped over a new set of CCW wheels and M&H drag radials for it. The car made 930 rwhp over there on pump gas only, about 20 psi with the Whipple 4.0.

What bottom end and what size is the motor?

RHS 427, Callies dragon slayer crank, Oliver billet rods, Diamond forged and ceramic coated pistons, 9.5 static compression, Mast LS7 305 cc heads, NEP custom cam. I just shipped over the exact same engine for a CTSV with a heart beat supercharger on it a year ago which is also running fine with 18 psi and meth injection, daily driven in Dubai, made 800 rwhp trough an auto with that one.
