Exclamation short circuit?

My radio has been randomly shutting off and then back on while I'm driving. It seems to be happening when I use the turn signal sometimes. Today at work the car wouldn't start as if the battery was dead. I checked the battery and when I touched that exposed part of the negative cable suddenly the power came back on. Could this be the sign of an electrical problem or short circuit? Please help.

No offense but if you don't know how tighten a loose ground wire then ask a friend that knows or take it to the dealer. Better safe than sorry.

Pretty much the wire that you wiggled around that restored power is loose, it may be simply loose on the stud, or firewall, or the crimp connector on it may not be secured to the wire good enough. If it is the latter you can just get a set of pliers and squeeze it tight, otherwise all you have to do is tighten the nut that holds the ground wire.

I know that the radio coming on and off could be a loose fuse. Check those first and I'm not sure about the loose battery wire..

It was the red cable connected to the negative terminal of the battery under the trunk. Is that the ground? All I did was touch the exposed copper part before the connector. I'm pretty handy just not knowledgable about electrical systems.

Red is usually positive, and if someone mixed the two you'd have a lot more trouble than an intermittent loss of power. Maybe call a friend who know a bit more than you, or better yet pop by your dealer, this should be a quick fix.

Yup Loose ground at the battery. Mine kept doing this (The nut on the battery kept coming loose) Dealer ended up having to replace the battery (The threads were evidently stripped at the factory.

yeah I mean't to say the 'black cable' Cam2011. I didn't realize this is known as the ground also. Thanks guys, I will tighten it when I get home and hopefully I don't have this problem anymore.
