correct just a tapper from what I can see. I think it was a (one of the brothers)Wallace in the NASCAR back in the 80's who did this.

It's a great mod. Your car comes alive much faster. The only down side is having to relearn how much pressure on the gas lets you go neighborhood speeds, and how much nearly launches you into the neighbor's mailbox

The ported TB looks the same as a regular one on the outside. Vmax does stamp their name on it, which I don't like. I don't want evidence its an aftermarket.

It does get rid of the dead spot but you get used to it. Its worth it.

Good for both auto or manual, and do a search here for a detailed explanation of the science behind the VMax CNC pattern cuts so you can get an idea on the why and how.

Many have been waiting to see if the throttle body can get any better with the trifecta tune. I did some data logging a couple weeks back while at the drag strip. I sent those into Vince and he has replied that all looks good with my current set-up. There was nothing to tweak.

So, for any who were thinking that maybe a tune is required or helps the TB, it is not required and all is fine.
I have a k&n CAI And the vmaxx ported TB and solo high flow cats, I got a CEL most likely due to the higher amounts of air flow. At least that's what I'm being told. Still haven't gotten a 100% answer. With that being said, you may need a tune, depending on what your other mods are. I'm no expert, but it makes sense to me, correct me if I'm wrong ha

I got my ported throttle body from JDP awhile back. The throttle response was very noticeable at first but now I can't tell the difference probably because I've had it installed for a couple years now. What I'd really like to get my hands on is a ported intake manifold to go with the TB.

Never heard of the PTB causing a CEL, but there have definitely been reports of the K&N cai causing them.

You should not need a tune with a PTB, or a cai, for that matter. If your K&N is causing the CEL, that's a problem. Tuning for a cai means the cai is not operating properly.

You can get a CEL from unplugging the TB and plugging in back in. It should go away by itself or after disconnecting the battery then reconnecting it.
